The Weekend in Video Review

What a superb weekend, yielding some of the highest online traffic in Second Life this year.

Here in London City, on Sunday night 109 avatars were present, which is quite remarkable considering that not more than 100 visitors should be able to be in the same region at the same time.

It demonstrates that when a region is full, if you persevere and continue to teleport, or better still, walk over from a neighbouring region, you can bend the grid to your will!   It also makes us wonder just how many people would have been here if Linden Lab did not impose agent limits!

Enjoy the video of the weekend in the London City, the single most popular destination since 2010.

Male Accessories in London City3

Going back just three of four years, finding clothing, accessories and other male bits was hard as it appeared that nearly all content was aimed at female avatars.

It's good to see that times have changed radically and that some emerging brands of a few years back are now key players in male apparel.

The London City estate now has a huge collection of male oriented stores and today we feature just some of the stores in the region London City3 tailored specifically towards the male shopper.

Check out the fabulous male skins, clothing and accessories available in just one street of London City Victoria.

Roby's sells photo real skins, shapes, eyes, hair and muscles!

Facebook buys Oculus

We're not surprised at all.

The super lightweight 3D interface is barely noticeable when worn and is frankly so comfortable that I forget I am wearing it.  In fact, I often leave the house with it still attached as I head off down the road to Tesco's.

Personally, I cannot wait to view facebook via this discreet gadget and if I ever need to see Billy, rather than looking across the room at him, he can logon and take a place in my viewing queue.

More about it here

This is definitely a step in the right direction.  Who wants to be surrounded with the world, when we can live the real thing on the internet?

I just hope they refine the power supply.

Ruby Babylon returns to Madame Lala's

Two years after her sensational sacking for being drunk in charge of a microphone, the semi-sober, extra wide icon, Miss Ruby Babylon returns to the stage at Madame Lala's London Revue.

Ruby Babylon returns with a brand new regurgitated show from the days when the club specialised in show tunes and cabaret.

What's more, the club interior has also been regurgitated to best represent the initial concept and reflect the reality of its real life counterpart.

Madame Lala's is a camp and glitzy club full of chintz and 'ladies' with large wigs and lashes.  Everyone is welcome, all you need is a sense of humour.

Madame Lala's complete with its original set and music, returns on Friday at 3.30pm SL (10.30pm UK) with a show not to be missed!

Great White Shark - Lydia Tracking Station

A Great White Shark will soon be in British waters and you can monitor her route towards the English coast at London Seaside.

News sources report "Great White shark Lydia continues crossing the mid-Atlantic, heading towards the United Kingdom. First caught and tagged with a tracking device off the coast of Jacksonville, Florida, in March 2013 a great white shark nicknamed Lydia has travelled more than half way across the Atlantic. Her last satellite check-in had her 745 miles off the Irish coast."

"Lydia has meandered up the U.S. East Coast to Nova Scotia, Canada following a rich chain of aquatic life that includes sea lions before turning east for Europe. Lydia is one of the few female great white sharks to be tagged. She is thought to be in her early twenties and may be pregnant. If she enters the Mediterranean, she may swim to a known shark birthing area near Turkey."

Now you can track Lydia's progress across the Atlantic Ocean as she heads towards the UK by visiting the 'Lydia Tracking Station' at the London City Seaside.

We continue to monitor the waters off the coast of London City and will report the sightings as they happen.

The Everly Brothers - on Saturday

Appearing for the first time ever in London City, we have a brand new show for you this Saturday:
The Everly Brothers.

Don and Phil Everly first became famous back in 1957 with Bye Bye Love and quickly established themselves as Rock n Rollers for the rest of that decade. Wake Up Little Susie, Cathy's Clown and Walk Right Back followed successively before they moved into the rock-a-ballad style they later became synonymous with.

In the mid 1960's they chart topped with, Crying In The Rain, Devoted To You, All I Have To Do Is Dream, Love Is Strange, Ebony Eyes, When Will I Be Loved and other softer rock songs.

By the start of the 1970's both brothers had become addicted to amphetamines which lead to a nervous breakdown for Don and the duo stopped recording. By the time both were recovered, disagreements had turned into a feud and the brothers did not perform, nor communicate with each other for a decade and pursued fruitless solo careers.

Thirteen years after the split, they performed some tense reunion concerts together beginning in the UK in 1983 where they had agreed that they would only talk to each other whilst on stage, but only if it was necessary.  Encouraged by the media hype of the reunion, in 1984 they recorded, On The Wings Of A Nightingale which was to be their final song to enter the charts.

By the 1990's the brothers had made peace with each other, but their stop-start careers had eroded their following and they continued to perform one-off reunion concerts every few years until their last appearance in 2004 as featured artists for the Simon & Garfunkel tour Old Friends, Live On Stage.

Phil Everly died on 3th January 2014 aged 75, but the Everly Brothers legacy will live on.
We invite you to experience their heyday and bask in the incredible love songs penned by these talented and troubled souls.

Party in the Park is at 12pm SL (8pm UK) with the stage show an hour later.

Ebbe and Flow

I do think that Alt Berg would have been a much better name than Ebbe Linden.  However Ebbe Altberg, the latest pontiff of Linden Lab, sure is making an early mark on his territory and pissing on lots of lamp posts from the get-go.

Ebbe, not 'umble pie
We wrote to Ebbe a couple of weeks back explaining the insane Jira system, where all of us can report a bug but never ever be able to see if it was going to be fixed as all Jira's had become a secret under the lead of Rod Humble.

Turning around just about everything his predecessor Rod Humble did, which wasn't actually very much, except some rather odd Tetris style games marketed under the labs name and turning off the transparency of the Jira,  our latest saviour Ebbe is already gaining some popularity in the world.  The Jira will be visible to everyone once again next week.   Good on you Ebbe.

It is true that a lot of land barons are snapping up regions in large batches at vastly higher values than the usual quick sale price.  This raises speculation that there is a new price-break to be announced. Perhaps 300 regions costs the same as 200 in old money.  Maybe LL is raising some cash to spend on things.  Some advertising would be nice.

If Ebbe decides to lower tiers on us mortals, said barons could have more than a little egg on their faces after such a hefty land rush without any particular public pledges being made as to the way this ship will ultimately be steered.   That said, if tiers did fall, Land Barons would have a lot more regions to sell for profit.

Definitely some interesting times ahead and those with an extreme level of investment in Second Life are showing a vote of confidence in our new leader.

We have also suggested to Ebbe, that since we are all in this together, that the economy metrics became transparent again, so that we can all see just how much growth there is, or how much trouble we are all collectively in.   If Ebbe was to turn on the metrics again, that really would prove that he thinks he has a sound battle plan to bring the grid back in to prosperity and some of us may trust his vision enough to grow our estates.

Good luck to you Ebbe, we're all counting on you.
