Here comes the sun... well almost

Things will start getting a little brighter from tomorrow!

Winter in Old Blighty is dark.  Day times are so short that we miss out on evening and go straight from afternoon to night time.   Then in the spring, evening gets reintroduced just ahead of the night time and sanity is restored.

Today is the Winter Solstice, the shortest daylight day in the UK, with the sun rising at 8.03am and setting at 3.52pm.

So if you are fed up with the dark nights, tomorrow is a day to celebrate. It will be lighter by 1 second.

What will you do with all this extra daylight?  Well start making plans, because day light will rapidly increase over the next month.   By the end of January it will be almost an hour lighter than now, with a sunset at 4.47pm

Not long to wait!
