New Years Eve Party!

You are invited to a night of Celebration in  London City, for the New Years Eve Party on Thursday.

DJ's Bailey and Torric will take you through New Years Eve and into the New Year from 12pm SL Time (8pm UK).

I will be playing all the trashy songs you've ever heard at every New Years Eve party you ever went to as you were growing up, during the "Cheese and Wine" section.  You can collectively vote songs off, by pressing the thumb down button (or thumb up to save) and Madame Bailey will be here to save your sanity at 2pm SL (10pm UK), with proper party sounds taking us well into 2020.

Hope you can join us!

Boxing Day: Pan's People: Night of 100 Stars

Join us today as we celebrate the music of over 100 stars, as performed by Pan's People!

Pan's People was a British female dance troupe most commonly associated with the BBC chart show, Top of the Pops, until the mid-1970s.  They appeared on many other TV shows in the UK and elsewhere in Europe and performed in nightclub cabaret. Due to their weekly exposure on British television the group acquired a high profile. The 'classic' line-up which existed from 1972 to 1974 is still widely recognised today.

Join us for an unforgettable night of leggy dancers and top tunes!

The Party begins at 12pm SL (8pm UK)

Here comes the sun

It is the Winter Solstice.  Today is the shortest day.. but its going to get brighter from tomorrow.

We can all enjoy some more daylight time starting this week, thanks to Civil Twilight.

Civil twilight is a scientific term, defined as “the period after sunset or before sunrise ending or beginning when the sun is about 6 degrees below the horizon and during which on clear days there is enough light for ordinary outdoor occupations.”

And from Tuesday 22nd December, it starts getting lighter at night, by just a minute at first, and by up to 2 minutes a day in January.

This may not sound much, but by the end of January sunset will be 5.23pm, a full 43 minutes more, and at 6.13pm in February.

UK Christmas Lockdown

Yesterday, in an early evening announcement, the Prime Minister of England, together with the devolved governments of Scotland and Wales, announced that the rules for Christmas were changing, and coming into immediate effect.

A new mutated strain of the virus, which is far more adept at transmitting itself, is rapidly sweeping the UK.  The government believes it is no longer safe for us to socialise with people outside of our family unit.

For most of the UK, Christmas has been cancelled.  The introduction of a new 4th Tier (full lockdown), saw nearly all Tier 3 areas move directly into the new tier, which prevents all visiting, even on Christmas day.

This will be heartbreaking for those who live alone and will come as a shock for others, who had made plans to visit family over the holidays, particularly as the Prime Minister had assured us (only two days ago), that Christmas gatherings could still take place.

Although we can never come close to filling the void that a Christmas at home without loved ones will create, please remember you are not on your own this Christmas.  We really are, in this together.

At London City in Second Life, we hope that you will join us and enjoy interacting with the community, enjoy parties, quizzes, games and one another's company and immerse yourselves in the virtual Christmas spirit.   We are open, we are active, and we look forward to seeing you.

We may be isolating, but we do not need to feel isolated.  Please join us whenever you can through the holidays, where we can lift each others spirits.

To check your tier level, visit Gov.uk and enter your postcode.

Stay safe. Eat lots of food. Get drunk.

The return of Santy's Grotty

Would you sit on this man's lap?

The adorable, slightly randy and alcoholic gentleman who has played Santa for us for the past five years, has returned once again, a bit worse for wear, to spread Christmas cheer to visitors of London City.

Our very own Chris Kringle has been hard at it and is ready to slip you a big surprise if you sit on his lap and tell him about all the naughty and nice things you have done this year.   Santa will invite you to have a rummage in his sack and pull out something big, spectacular and impressive!

You can't really miss his grotto as its peppered with gin bottles and discarded mince pies

Visit Santa's Grotty here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/London%20City/69/227/23
