Holiday Concerts in London City

It's the most wonderful time of the year.. and we hope you can join us for the Holiday concerts here in London City.

Keeping with tradition, Andy Williams kicks off the yuletide cheer with his Christmas show next Saturday evening.   On Sunday one of our most popular shows, the plate smashing, glass shattering Greek legend, Demis Roussos takes to the ice, singing his all time favourite Christmas songs.

Monday sees the welcome return of Elton John and on Tuesday (Christmas Eve) its time for The Christmas Proms, followed by a carol service in St. Marks on the Park.

All events begin at 12pm SL time (8pm UK).

With events throughout Christmas and New Year, all the London clubs will be open at their normal times, so be sure to visit each club and bar to celebrate Christmas with their themed Parties.

One exception, on Friday 20th of December, there is no Substation or Bar Soho, but Madame Lala's will open as normal at 2.30pm SL (10.30pm UK).

We very much hope you will join us here in London City for some fantastic festive events throughout Christmas.

Weekend in Review - 23-25 September

Another weekend of craziness in London City.  It began at Madame Lala's London Revue following a Best in Leather party at Bar Soho.  The incomparable Ruby Babylon gave a tribute to Dolly Parton that was a hit with the crowd that assembled.  No one could take their eyes off Ruby's dress; in much the same way that people can't take their eyes off a terrible accident.

The crowd look on anxiously as fireworks are unleashed so close to so much hairspray...

So much 'talent' that even the microphone didn't know where to put itself
The Saturday Party in the Park witnessed the return of a tribute to Swedish sensations ABBA.  Party goers descended on to Regent's Park en masse, with numbers on the sim peaking in the nineties for the concert and Best in Flares contest

Revellers frolic on the dance floor as ABBA perform a selection of their hits.
On Sunday night the action moved to Comptons pub for Open Mic night.  The usually rowdy audience became unusually reticent at the thought of performing.  Thankfully, Brian Narstrom was on hand, well on mic and guitar actually to provide some entertainment.

As well as Brian, we also had an impromptu visit from Lehman Shinn, who made his debut on Comptons stage and was well received by the audience.

London City's own Madame Lala stormed the stage for a tribute to Dame Edna Everage, but thankfully Brian returned for an encore performance to round the evening off in style.

Weekend in Review

What a wild weekend in London City...it will take me all week to recover!  The weekend got of to a truly hectic start on Friday evening.  Usually there is a party in Bar Soho with me as host (takes a bow), but we relocated to the Regent's Park as the party was only the start of the evenings entertainment.  So we kicked off with Best in Pink and then we had the first of two concerts - Simon and Garfunkel.  We then went from the sublime to the ridiculous with Abba!

Benny, Frida, Agnetha and Bjorn take to the stage
Saturday saw the Bee Gees take to the main stage in Regent's Park for a concert that had the crowd singing along - their vocal cords lubricated by the near infamous Soho Beer.

Yes...it's the Bee Gees resplendent in white suits and big hair
On Sunday we had our usual chill out day until a fabulous 50s party got underway at Comptons pub.  It felt like we were travelling in time as earlier in the week we had a Roaring 20s night at Madame Lala's London Revue - truly the first time I have been to an event in Second Life where everyone has sat on the bar drinking tea...  The highlight of the fabulous fifties night was a live performance from a very talented singer by the name of Brian Narstrom, who performed a selection of smooth songs to round off the weekend in a perfect style.

Your London Weekend in London City

Last night a wonderful crowd of faces made it into Madame Lala's to see the wonderful BONEY M in concert.

It was the same Lala club but on our new London City Sim.  It was absolutely wonderful to see 67 people in the club at the same time.   On our old sim only 40 could attend, so it was really great to see that everyone who wanted to be in the club, could be there!

Tonight, The ABBA Party in Regent's Park.   Starts at 12pm PDT (8pm UK) with ABBA in Concert at 2pm (10pm UK).  Hope to see you there.    To be there, click here

Sunday: An Evening With Madame Lala

The scene is set for an Evening with Madame Lala.

People often ask Madame Lala to dig deep into her record collection which spans a few centuries and over crank some old songs to modern disco standards.

This morning, during a gin induced depression, Madame Lala sat cleaning all her old scratched vinyl and has decided to throw a cheese and whine party from 1pm PDT in Madame Lala's

Her gramaphone is ready to play all her 33's at 45 and her 45's at 78.  She's bought a new needle and Lala hopes you will come and reminisce, laugh and cry at these old records that she has scraped the barnacles off.
Please Bring A Bottle
RSVP.

Mapoo Little rocked the sims again last night with a fantastic rendition of PINK songs and as usual she sung LIVE.   The beautiful Mapoo returns again to Mainland London on Saturday 4th June, this time singing the songs of Tina Turner.

This was a dazzling show, with effects, a motorbike and a very talented lady with a superb voice who sings so very hard for her supper.   Thank you Mapoo for sharing your talents with us.

On Friday, ABBA returned to Mainland London for an exclusive concert in Madame Lala's London Revue.   Madame Lala's has a band every Friday at 2pm PDT.

The Weekend Wrap Up

Hundreds of Party goers enjoyed a fabulous weekend of events here in Mainland London.
On Saturday the sims were filled to capacity again for ABBA in their first ever concert here.

Sunday saw the return of the Bee Gees and Cher giving afternoon performances again packing us to the rafters on a Sunday lunch time, then DJ Rolday in Bar Soho.

It's true that we don't offer thousands of lindens every day for people to come here.
We are keen to avoid gimmicks and bribes. We hope our visitors come to Mainland London for the Entertainment value, to enjoy themselves and become part of this expanding community.... and not come for the cash, which they won't get, cos it's not on offer :)

Although the sims are always full, so are the shops.  So next time you have a few minutes to kill having to do fancy manuevers to get in, please visit the buzzing shops in the neighboring Mainland London region.

As stated in the Second Life Destinations, we're making a song and dance of it again this month... Watch the blog tomorrow for the line-up of Events in Mainland London next weekend.

Thank you again everyone for your continued patronage..

Final thought for the weekend....
We do it all over again tomorrow!
