London City Community Gateway

Second Life's London themed Community Gateway, "London City Gateway" is taking shape.

The Gateway aims to give new users the basic skills they need to enjoy their initial experience in Second Life.

New users creating accounts will be given the option to login directly to London City, so it is important to include as many useful tutorials as possible, without overwhelming a newcomer.

The 'Walk-Through' already covers how to move, walk, fly, communicate, dress avatars, use pose balls and join groups.

We are very fortunate that London City group memberships now total a quarter of a million residents and to that end we would like to draw upon your wealth of experience and invite your comments, suggestions and ideas for additional 'instructions' that should be included.

Please visit London City Community Gateway and imagine yourself as a brand new user. If you have a suggestion for something we should include as a basic but essential skill that a new user will need within the first hour of their Second Life, please drop a note card in-world to Billy Arentire.

At this point we are not seeking to demonstrate building skills as a part of the tour as this will be included in a dedicated area.

Thank you to all your suggestions so far.  Please keep them coming.

London City Gateway open for a PREVIEW

Whilst the building for London City Gateway continues, we are pleased to let you know that the initial phase of the completed building work will give a good flavour of what is yet to come in the Gateway in terms of  additional content, useful guides and free items.

The region is now open for Preview.. and by preview we mean that not everything is working yet, not all texturing is complete and there are a lot of things still to be set in their correct position.

If you would like to have a look around the London City Gateway region and see our progress so far visit: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/London%20City%20Gateway/183/85/24

London City Estate - Press Release

PRESS RELEASE
23 DECEMBER 2015

London City joins the Community Gateway program.

London City, a community estate in Second Life since 2009 is pleased to announce the expansion of the estate, adding a new region, with an exclusive focus on new users.

London City and their team of thirty "London Support" agents has for many years, given specialist help to new residents in the hope of kick-starting their Second Life with a powerful and impressive immersive experience, fast tracking the user to the best experiences Second Life has to offer.

We are pleased to announce that we have been invited by Linden Lab to offer an officially endorsed Community Gateway which will be known as "London City Gateway".

This dedicated region is under development and will begin to host and assist new users as they are 'born' directly into the Gateway, in the new year.

London City Gateway will be a low lag, fun environment where new users can quickly learn the initial skill sets needed for the best possible experience in Second Life.

We very much hope that London City will play a big part in the retention of new users as they begin their Second Life journeys and to help the further growth of the Second Life community.
