Matt Monro's Love-In for Valentines

On Saturday, join us for a special show to celebrate Valetines Day.

Matt Monro, sometimes known as the Singing Bus Driver, was a British male vocalist whose career spanned the late 1950s 60s and 70s.

In the 1960s Matt Monro hit international fame and left for America, spending the next 20 years performing concerts and in Las Vegas, before returning to the UK shortly before his death in 1985 at just 54.

The man with the warm and beautiful voice brought enormous pleasure to millions and had many celebrity fans including Frank Sinatra who said of Monro after his death: “If I had to choose three of the finest male vocalists in the singing business, Matt would be one of them. His pitch was right on the nose; his word enunciations letter perfect; his understanding of a song thorough.”

He sang the opening movie scores to The Italian Job (On Days Like These)From Russia With Love and Born Free and is best known for songs, Portrait of My Love, If I Never Sing Another Song, We're Gonna Change The World, The Impossible Dream and Walk Away (later recorded by Elvis).

Join us for a romantic evening, with Matt Monro appearing for the first time ever in London City.

Party starts at 12pm SL (8pm UK), and the Show begins an hour later at 1pm SL

The Queen's Sapphire Jubilee

Queen Elizabeth II has reigned for 65 years today, 6th February.

The Queen makes history as she becomes the first British Monarch to reach the Sapphire Jubilee.  Unlike her Golden Jubilee in 2002, there are no grand festivities planned to mark this historic milestone.

In 2015, when she thanked the nation for its kind messages after overtaking Queen Victoria's reign as the longest serving monarch of all time, she admitted that the record was "not one to which I have ever aspired".   Adding, "Inevitably, a long life can pass many milestones.  My own is no exception".

Will he be any good?

At the weekend we posted a broad question on our voting booth, with a picture of the new President asking "Will he be any good?"

Of 145 votes, 70 said yes and 75 said no.  This is surprising in so far as every time we previously asked you who you would vote for, around 2/3rds of you chose Clinton.

This demonstrates a slight thaw in attitude towards the new administration as opinion now seems to be roughly half of you thinking he will be good and half of you thinking he will not!

Of course, it is entirely possible that the 1/3rd of you who appear to have shifted, still think Clinton would have been better, but it does demonstrate that some more people have indeed got on board with the Trump Train.

You can see the history of this story here

Hope you enjoyed it and thank you for coming.

President Donald J. Trump

It is Inauguration day as Donald J. Trump becomes the 45th President of the United States.

Meet in London City at 8am SLT (4pm UK) to watch, comment, and enjoy the spectacle with your online friends!

Put some make-up on love,

In the penultimate episode of our favourite reality show, Obama and Biden were seen crying on TV and outdoing each other with bestowal of  awards. In todays final episode, will it be Hillary's turn?  Will she throw up, pass out and fall over the balcony into the crowd?  Find out as this grisly reality show reaches its climax!

One thing is for sure.  You can rely on the spin-off series featuring the new President to be every bit as entertaining.

You can enjoy London City's version of the Inaugural Ball in Bar Soho from 11am SLT (7pm UK), then over to Madame Lala's at 1pm SLT (9pm UK).

Roy Orbison in Concert on Saturday

Join us on Saturday in Regent's Park for Roy Orbison in London City.

Roy Orbison, The Big O, was an American singer/songwriter best known for his songs, Crying, Only The Lonely, Oh Pretty Woman, Running Scared, You Got It and many more hits.

Contrary to popular belief, the reclusive Orbison wore big black sunglasses not  because he was blind or cross eyed.  He adopted them because he suffered terrible stage fright (which prevented him touring) and found them to be a useful shield between himself and the world outside.

Roy died in 1988 aged just 52.  A year later, You Got It became the final song of Roy Orbison's to chart inside the top ten.

Party starts at 12pm SL (8pm UK) with the Concert and hour later at 1pm SL.
