Ronald Reagan on Mount Rushmore

During the last election in the USA, Ronald Reagan, once a Democrat who defected to the Republicans, was used by both sides of a shining example of what a President should be.

It was common throughout the campaign for both sides to quote him, posthumously second guessing his thoughts on their tactics, and hail him as the best ever modern leader of the free world.

With that in mind, at the weekend we ran a poll. Would you like to add Ronald Reagan to Mount Rushmore?

36% said Yes, 60% said No and 4% were undecided.

It is worth noting that during discussions, some who voted no, said that they had done so as they believe the monument should remain unaltered.  Others said in 200 years, whilst Washington and Lincoln would still be relevant, Reagan might be forgotten... and others just plain didn't like the idea.

Thanks for taking part.

Hillary trumps Trump

In March we assumed that it would be a Trump v Clinton race to the White House and asked you to cast your votes.   At the time it was Trump 64 (43%), Clinton 85 (57%).

Now that it is definitely a Trump v Clinton election, we polled you again at the weekend to see if your opinion had changed.

Almost no change at all in your opinions with Trump scoring 62 (42%) and Clinton scoring 87 (58%).

It is worth noting that Trump seems to score much better in the middle of the night UK time which would be USA prime time.  This could indicated that he is more popular in the USA than in the UK.

USA Law - Same sex marriage legal in all 50 states

It is Gay Pride weekend in London and also in New York.

Just in time for Pride, the US Supreme Court has ruled that under the 14th amendment, same sex couples are to be accorded the same marital rights as opposite sex couples.

This means that Marriage equality finally becomes law in all 50 states of the USA.  Back as recent as 2009 only one state in the USA granted equality.   This act finally brings the USA, which prides itself as a forward thinking nation, in step with the human rights extended to all European citizens a decade ago.

Gay Pride in London City begins tomorrow at 9am SL / 5pm UK.
