Dolly Parton, Saturday

In concert on Saturday: Dolly Parton, the Tribute show in London City.

Dolly Parton, was terribly poor for the first six minutes of her life, and then became wealthy beyond the dreams of Avarice for the next 70 years, but hasn't lost touch with her humble beginnings.

Partly because no one wants to hear songs about a billionaire with tax return problems, when poor and broken hearted sells better, Dolly has endured over the years by reinventing her image over and over.

Come party with us on Saturday from 12pm SL (8pm UK) with the concert an hour later at 1pm SL.

Hello London City, are you OK? are you? Good because I wanted to know!!

So, what can I say about this weekend? One thing I can say is ..O...M...G!!!

Seriously, before you read any further, you need to fasten your seatbelt, and you may want to inform your next of kin!! This weekend was smashed!!!

Firstly, Bish, Bash, Bosh!!! 'ave some of that!!!

When you came on Second Life over the weekend you would have seen us (London City) all over the log in page, which told  people the best place to go in SL.  We are the top destination in Second Life, but you already knew that  :) x

Friday 6th July 2012

The weekend starts now at Substation, a fun club Hosted by Coffee Queen, and the talented Bailey Saxmundham Djing her socks off playing a mix of 50's and 60's tunes, fitting to the club, this is a great night out for all.

Then its on to Bar Soho, for dancing and themed events. This weekend  club manager Wil.Youngblood took Bar Soho on a Road-show to Regents Park. There was dancing, and chat, plus the new lyric machine that everybody loves, trying to guest the next lyric has us firing out random words in order to win a cash prize, its very addictive, not only that, there was a featured event, best in Rainbow, to kick off our Gay Pride weekend, everyone turned up in their brightest gear, and looking wonderful.

Friday was also a special day for Torric, Estate partner of London City, it was his birthday, and we held a secret surprise party for him at Madame Lala's, in he came unsuspecting, as we all yelled Happy Birthday!!! There was drinks, cake, dancing, and balloons.
Then to take us in to Saturday Dj Fierce at Madame lala's, played the Funkiest mix of tunes and I was hosting,  carrying on the Rainbow theme for Gay Pride.
Madame Lala's  is my featured club this week. Based on the RL club, Madame Jojo's in Brewer Street, Soho.
Madame Jojo's is a highly celebrated cabaret and burlesque venue, with legendary famous drag performances in the past from, Ruby Venzuela, Lily savage, Adrella and Regina Fong.

Madame Lala's, is open every Friday night and Sunday morning, and plays some of the best mixes of music in Second Life, there's something for everyone, the club is warm and friendly teamed with a sharp wit from Dj Fierce who plays the Friday night  and club manager Bailey Saxmundham, who see's us right with some cool easy listening for the Sunday Smooth. Both events have a themed contest, where you can win a cash prize. If you have never been before, give it a go, you will LOVE it!

Saturday 7th July 2012

Gay Pride! Gay Pride! Gay Pride!

All day the celebration went on to a packed sim, we had concerts from Cher, Dolly Parton, Bette Midler and Shirley Bassey, plus full music sets from our talented Dj's... What a day, where else could you see such legends one after another... for free?

People "tping" in all day, and not wanting to leave, even when hunger set in, they didn't want to miss any of it!

Our own Billy Arentire built a fantastic themed  set in Regents park especially for Gay Pride, ( I think it will be talked about for years
to come!! ) x

The celebrations went on it Regent's Park right through til 3am UK, with Lezbo on a roadshow and still people stayed on for more partying!

Sunday 8th July 2012

Every Sunday morning Madame Lala manager, Bailey Saxmundham, opens the club for the Sunday smooth, this week not being left out of the celebrations, Madame Lala's also went on a road-show to Regents park, people swarming in ready to recover from the night before's celebrations, again the sim was packed to bursting point, and it stayed that way all day and night. One event after another, our own talented Dj's taking the reigns for a few hours with the best music mixes and themed events, before passing on to the next Dj. It was a music marathon, we all thoroughly enjoyed it what a blast! It was left to yours truly to bring the celebrations to a close when we all collapsed in a heap lol .

So, that's it from me, I will see you through the week for more fun and frolics.

Weekend in Review - February 17th to 19th

Oooh kiddies, auntie Bailey's feet are throbbing from all that dancing this weekend.

On Friday we ended the week on a high with a Best in Leather/Latex contest at Bar Soho.  Our new Dj, Snakey, took to the decks and provided us with a couple of hours of great music.  We then headed on down the road to Madame Lala's London Revue for an Emmylou Harris tribute concert, which was absolutely fantastic.

It's Emmylou Harris!  Well actually it is an avatar doing a tribute.
On Saturday the concert area Regent's Park was converted to give it a country feel for a special tribute concert featuring none other than Dolly Parton.  Dolly's musical talents overshadow many of her contemporaries and her chest overshadowed the dancers in the park.

Dolly and the London City crew in support
The Dolly Parton fan club take to the dance floor...yeehaw!
For entertainment on a Sunday we usually head to Comptons pub, but we had a change and returned to Regent's Park for a Seekers tribute concert to bring our folk fest to an end.  With a Best in Sixties contest, we were not short on colour or (hideous) patterns!

The Seekers on stage in the Park
Immediately after the Seekers, we headed across town to Lezbo for a Wacky Outfit contest.  I don't think I have words to describe dancing horses, cupcakes, turkeys, etc. so I will show you a pic instead!

Erm...the punters in Lezbo
Okay, I am off to soak my feet...have a great week and don't forget to visit London City frequently for all your shopping and partying needs!

Weekend in Review - 23-25 September

Another weekend of craziness in London City.  It began at Madame Lala's London Revue following a Best in Leather party at Bar Soho.  The incomparable Ruby Babylon gave a tribute to Dolly Parton that was a hit with the crowd that assembled.  No one could take their eyes off Ruby's dress; in much the same way that people can't take their eyes off a terrible accident.

The crowd look on anxiously as fireworks are unleashed so close to so much hairspray...

So much 'talent' that even the microphone didn't know where to put itself
The Saturday Party in the Park witnessed the return of a tribute to Swedish sensations ABBA.  Party goers descended on to Regent's Park en masse, with numbers on the sim peaking in the nineties for the concert and Best in Flares contest

Revellers frolic on the dance floor as ABBA perform a selection of their hits.
On Sunday night the action moved to Comptons pub for Open Mic night.  The usually rowdy audience became unusually reticent at the thought of performing.  Thankfully, Brian Narstrom was on hand, well on mic and guitar actually to provide some entertainment.

Brian Narstrom
As well as Brian, we also had an impromptu visit from Lehman Shinn, who made his debut on Comptons stage and was well received by the audience.
Lehman Shinn
London City's own Madame Lala stormed the stage for a tribute to Dame Edna Everage, but thankfully Brian returned for an encore performance to round the evening off in style.

Anukis, Bobbi and Dolly

Tueday evening in Mainland London, saw a very special party for Anukis and Bobbi who had approached Madame Lala's for a Hen Party to celebrate their reunification.

This was one of those parties where just about everyone you know and everyone you have ever seen turned up to wish the happy couple the very best of luck.

Ruby Babylon did an hilarious stand up routine and special guest Dolly Parton came in to sing her favourite songs.

A packed evening with a great and fun loving crowd.
