Weekend in Review - 20th to 22th April

And so ends another weekend of costumes, music and insanity in London City.  The weekend started on a classy note with Best in Formal at Bar Soho.  It was a first for us, as the event was sponsored by Vero Modero, who provided free gifts and prizes.

Following on from Bar Soho, we headed on over to Madame Lala's London Revue for a Best in Disco contest and some fabulously camp and strange tunes.

On Saturday World's End Pub hosted a Best in Bizarre contest.  I don't wish to besmirch the good names of anyone there, but sometimes you wonder if they make an effort for such contests or just come as themselves!

Hot on the heels of the event at World's End, the party continued with Best in Party Wear in Regent's Park.  The tribute concert was the ever popular Neil Diamond, who had the crowd swaying with his crooning.

Neil Diamond...well, maybe Cubic Zirconia...and his band
After the concert it was time to head off to Best in Pirate at Lezbo.  Rather like fitting a ship in to a bottle, Ruby had managed to fit a pirate ship in to the club.  For added authenticity, she even left the taps running and flooded the club.  Still, it was about time the floor had a wash.

On Sunday we had our own version of the London Marathon, which proved to be fun for competitors, marshals and spectators alike.  Oddly enough even with furries and such, it didn't look any stranger than the real thing!

London hasn't seen so many people running since the lootings
To bring the weekend to a close, we had a Best in Dad's Army contest at Substation and then finally a Best in Fairy at Lezbo.

Stay tuned to find out what is in store for next weekend!

Weekend in Review - 26-27 November

Yes it is that time of the week again - auntie Bailey is here with the news and reviews from the weekend once more.  Doesn't time just fly when you are having fun.

On Saturday in Regent's Park we had our Neil Diamond tribute back for a singalong on the winter concert stage.  The contest theme was Best in Body Hair and/or Side Burns.  As the party was held on the ice rink, it seemed appropriate that everyone was wrapped up in an extra layer of hair, even if they did have to remove some clothing to prove it...

Neil and the Diamondettes

Altogether now...Sweet Caroline...
Sunday at Comptons had Rat Pack inspired music and another of those strange contest themes that crops up at Comptons...Best in Bad Hair.  It seemed there was no shortage of bad hair in SL and DJ Ruby played some of her old LPs.  If you are too young to know what an LP is, please don't ask me as I may be forced to hit you with my walking stick.

Hair today...and hopefully gone tomorrow
There were parties across other London City venues - Bar Soho, Madame Lala's London Revue and Lezbo - so we were not short of musical entertainment and chat.

Next Saturday in the Park, we have Helvis Xue performing live again for us!

Weekend in Review - 9-11 September

On Friday London City saw the return of Neil Diamond to the stage at Madame Lala's London Revue.

Saturday provided us with the chance to try something different and I don't think anyone expected it to be as successful as it was.  Given that it was the Last Night of the Proms in real life, we decided to have a crack at it ourselves as our party in Regent's Park.  Although it was suspected that it would be something of a niche market, it proved to be so popular that we did an encore performance at Compton's on Sunday.

The orchestra and singers take to the stage

The audience get in to the mood with patriotic costumes and flag waving!

Ms Ruby Babylon of Madame Lala's London Revue swings in for her solo spot
Thanks to everyone who made the event such a huge success and thank you for the continued support which allows us to go on producing such events for your enjoyment.
