Here comes the sun

If you are one of the lucky ones who start their Christmas on Friday afternoon.. Here is hoping that this week goes swiftly for you!

We can all enjoy some more daylight time starting this week, thanks to Civil Twilight.

Civil twilight is a scientific term, defined as “the period after sunset or before sunrise ending or beginning when the sun is about 6 degrees below the horizon and during which on clear days there is enough light for ordinary outdoor occupations.”

And from Friday 20th December, it starts getting lighter at night, by just a minute at first, and by up to 2 minutes a day in January.

This may not sound much, but by the end of January sunset will be 5.23pm, a full 43 minutes more, and at 6.13pm in February.

Here come's the Sun

To think that last week we were shivering in the UK, and wondering if winter would ever end.

In the depths of despair we prayed for something warmer than the gloomy 54F which had been our highest temperature since Christmas.

Everywhere you go, there are people whose skin has not seen the sun in six months, but has now been subjected to intense radiation for the past two days. Calamine sales are bound to peak.

As they say.. Careful what you wish for!
