Tina Turner on Saturday

Born Anna Mae Bollock and best known as Tina Tuna, her musical career got going in the 1940s.

Tina and loving husband Ike Turner had a string of notable hits, River Deep Mountain High, Nutbush City Limits and Proud Mary and enjoyed their success with cigarettes and whisky and wild wild  women.

However, behind the scenes Ike was knocking seven shades out of poor old Tina and they split up in 1976.  Five years later, after getting rid of her junkie husband, Tina hit superstardom with Let's Stay Together, Private Dancer and What's Love Got To Do With It.  A legend came into being.

Enjoy Tina's most famous hits this weekend, here in London City.

Weekend in Review - March 23rd to 25th

Hello my loves...just a quick posting as I am dashing between parties in London City.  I am having to get changed in the back of a taxi as we speed through the streets.  The life of a blogger can be so hectic at times.  Thankfully, the taxi driver knows me well - he has had me in the back of his taxi a few times now...so to speak.

So anyhoo...hectic weekend.  Friday was Best in Pirate at Bar Soho and Best in Red at Madame Lala's London Revue.  Saturday was Best in Yellow at World's End pub, Best in Tart in Regent's Park and Best in Comic Book Hero at Lezbo.  And Sunday was Best in 1960s in the brand new cellar bar beneath Compton's pub and Best in Armed Forces at Lezbo.

The tribute concert on Saturday was the ever popular Tina Turner.  A stunning set, amazing performances from Tina and the band and a great audience made for an excellent night.

I had my camera with me so managed to get a few snaps.

Okay kiddies, my taxi has reached it's destination...I'll keep you posted of events.  Yeah I know you are probably at most of them, but you will doubtless be too drunk to remember what happens!  Have a good week!

Weekend in Review - 12-13 November

Following the usual insanity of a Friday in London City as the weekend was welcome first at Bar Soho and then Madame Lala's London Revue, Saturday proved to be a mixed day.

We were saddened when we learned that the schedule artist for the concert in Regent's Park, the amazing Mapoo Little, had to cancel, but thrilled that our Tina Turner tribute was able to take over the performing honours at short notice.  Ms Turner did a fantastic job of rocking the audience who all looked resplendent in their outfits for the Best in Gold contest that was running throughout the concert.

The audience assembled for Tina's show
Sunday morning saw the usual party revellers in a more sombre mood as we gathered at the cenotaph for a short Remembrance Sunday service and observation of the two minute silence at 11am GMT.
Gathered together in an act of remembrance
On Sunday evening, Adevina Citron-Gearz returned to the stage in Comptons for a live set featuring a selection of songs from a wide variety of genres.

Weekend in Review

Total insanity at the weekend in London City.  The Friday event at Bar Soho (Best in Green) proved to be a warm up for the later event at Madame Lala's London Revue, which got the weekend off to a rocking start with special guest Tina Turner.

On Saturday we had a party in the park that proved to be a fantastic event and exceeded everyone's expectations.  The special guest was Australian musician, singer-songwriter, composer, painter and television personality, Mr Rolf Harris!  A free didgeridoo and extra leg were available as gifts for visitors.  The backing band were very enthusiastic and took to pogo sticks for 'Tie Me Kangaroo Down' and donned their extra legs to dance along to 'Jake the Peg'!

Everyone became a Rolferoo for the evening!
Sunday contained a disappointment when the scheduled performer was forced to cancel, but all was forgotten when London City favourite, Brian Narstrom, returned for a second live concert at Comptons pub.

The weekend was rounded off nicely with some chilled out tunes from DJ Torric Rodas.

Saturday: PARTY in The Park and MAPOO LITTLE singing LIVE!

With events throughout the day including our world famous Coffin Race, the only place to be is Mainland London!

The Party in Regent's Park gets going today from 11am PDT (7pm UK) with Madame Lala playing her Land That Time Forgot Disco Remix.

At 12pm noon PDT (8pm UK) Mapoo Little takes to the stage singing LIVE, the songs of Tina Turner. Be sure to arrive early, this is a show you won't want to miss!

From 1pm PDT BAR Soho in the Park for the latest pop tunes!

Last night at Madame Lala's, the legendary 1970's performer, Demis Roussos wowed the crowd with a fantastic upbeat concert from his latest tour.   Songs including "Zorba" had everyone up on their feet and dancing to perhaps the most unlikely revue Mainland London has put on.... to date :)
