Abranimation - Motion Capture and Bento dances

Real Life Motion Capture Company Awesome Dog Limited  the creators of the Second Life leading animation brand Abranimations,  original Mocap dances and animation overrides, has a Mainstore in London City.

Abranimations has been a partner of  London City for five years, but the brand has been in-world for thirteen years and uses the very latest capture techniques, for their  bento dances; where multiple cameras track the movements of real life dancers and performers and  digitally encode them into virtual world animations.

CEO Abramelin Wolfe explained that, "Originally we lived near London and it is a very special place for both Wildcat and myself and seeing and feeling the buzz in London City, we knew we wanted to be here and that it felt right for our business.  I especially like the little touches that bring it all to life."

Talking about the latest innovations from their company he explained, "We have recently set up a brand new studio and we are working really hard with new fluid and exceptionally realistic animations, including bento finger animations, which can already be seen in our in-world stores".

Abramelin has also made a fantastic free accessory for London City visitors, a union jack style Mesh Avatar to go with some dances and mime animations.  "We made a special Brit one to give away free here".

Abranimations is located here http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/London%20City/31/129/24   All animations have a test pad in the shop which you can sit on to dance and try before you buy.  What's more - in this massive stores there are many other products on offer, including club games, stunt bikes, guns, a butt animator and an hilarious fish slapper!

Login issues

Vintage "outage" page.
As of Monday morning UK time, Login issues to Second Life continue.
Since Sunday, there have been incidents where the entire population has been thrown off-grid for an hour or more at a time.

You can check progress on this issue by clicking the button at the top of the blog to see the Grid Status

Frustrating as it is, these things happen from time to time and rest assured the lab is doing all they can to restore normality.

This graph as at 2am SL time (9am UK) charts the outages.  The gaps indicate when no residents were online.

This issue was subsequently resolved Monday afternoon.

From the lab:

Heya Folks.
I can confirm it was a DDoS attack, and yes, the folks on my team had a rough weekend.

We do our best to fight DDoSes, but this one took quite a bit more effort than normal.

I’m sorry people’s plans got interrupted over the weekend. It was a rough weekend for all of us… including those of us on this side of the grid, too.

The UK clocks went forward one hour this morning.. so today at 12pm SL time (7pm UK) it is Substation with Bailey and Coffee, then join Katty on the beach for Worlds End from 2pm SL (9pm UK).  Don't worry, we all catch up again as everyone else's clocks change next weekend!

War of The Worlds Stage Show, Saturday 27th

On 30th October 1938 long before television, CBS broadcast a radio version of The War of The Worlds.

They mentioned several times at the start of the show that it was a dramatization.

The format of the show was that of a light music program, constantly interrupted by reporters giving an account of the aliens progressive invasion.

What the network had overlooked was that the average radio listener to jump stations throughout the evening.

As the play continued, more and more people tuned in to the War of The Worlds broadcast without realising it was a play. Furthermore the radio broadcast had used real town names instead of fictitious ones, and one by one each town fell into the hands of the Martians.

Panic ensued as whole towns, swept in waves of hysteria, packed their possessions and fled to surrounding areas.

A suicide was reported as one woman said she would rather die than be taken by the Martians. In another town there was a fatal stampede as residents desperate to leave trampled each other.

The following morning CBS were forced to hold a press conference to explain themselves and to apologize for the duress they had subjected their listeners to.

Ultimately with such intense press coverage, this catapulted the actor who has played the lead reporter, a young and unknown Orson Welles, into super-stardom.  Just three short years later, he wrote, produced, directed and starred in Citizen Kane.

Join us in London City on Saturday for the interactive stage show version of this most famous of classics.

Our evening begins with a huge mass of luminous gas erupting from Mars and heading towards Earth.

Across two-hundred-million miles of void, invisibly hurtling towards us, is the first of the missiles that will bring so much calamity.

Be part of this show.  Come dressed however you like, but to be in the cast and to dance on the stage, please wear turn of the century or steampunk clothing.  Men in cloth caps and working clothes, ladies in bustles or bonnets, or as maids.   Circa anytime between 1880 to 1940.

The event starts at 12pm SL Time (8pm UK)
