Weekend in Review - 26-27 November

Yes it is that time of the week again - auntie Bailey is here with the news and reviews from the weekend once more.  Doesn't time just fly when you are having fun.

On Saturday in Regent's Park we had our Neil Diamond tribute back for a singalong on the winter concert stage.  The contest theme was Best in Body Hair and/or Side Burns.  As the party was held on the ice rink, it seemed appropriate that everyone was wrapped up in an extra layer of hair, even if they did have to remove some clothing to prove it...

Neil and the Diamondettes

Altogether now...Sweet Caroline...
Sunday at Comptons had Rat Pack inspired music and another of those strange contest themes that crops up at Comptons...Best in Bad Hair.  It seemed there was no shortage of bad hair in SL and DJ Ruby played some of her old LPs.  If you are too young to know what an LP is, please don't ask me as I may be forced to hit you with my walking stick.

Hair today...and hopefully gone tomorrow
There were parties across other London City venues - Bar Soho, Madame Lala's London Revue and Lezbo - so we were not short of musical entertainment and chat.

Next Saturday in the Park, we have Helvis Xue performing live again for us!

Help On Hand with London Support

Regent's Park is more than just a hang-out for chatting and socialising.

It offers a complimentary layer of assistance beyond the New Resident Induction program in St. James's Square in London City2.

Help is always on hand with our team of experienced Support staff, who will give one-to-one help showing new residents how to perform basic functions from unpacking boxes, finding clothing, searching places, upgrading or verifying their accounts to the more intricate matters of setting their viewers for the best performance.

Many of those forming the London Support team have been in SL for three or more years, so they have experienced most of the other strange anomalies that are very frustrating to the newer resident. They can help with Ruthed appearance, random crashing, cloud and ghosted avatars, missing inventory and have practical knowledge that can assist people with a multitude of problems that goes a lot deeper than basic induction.

So next time something happens that you don't know how to fix, head to the meeting area in Regent's Park and look for the London Support tag.  London Support is here to help new and experienced residents alike.

Neil set to rock Regent's Park

Hurrah it is the weekend and all the clubs will be open this evening, so be sure to have a visit of the venues and take part in some great contests with genuine Cash prizes.  Best nip to the supermarket for a bottle of red whilst you're at it.  It's going to be a long night!

On Saturday our main event at Party In The Park will be the legendary Neil Diamond in Concert.  Neil will be singing all of the famous songs from over the years and this is a concert not to be missed.

The party starts at 12pm SL (8pm UK) and Neil Diamond and his band takes to the stage at 1pm SL (9pm UK).  The competition this week is "Best In Sideburns", so you'll need to get thinking.   We'd love to see some home made ones.  Perhaps visit the Houses Of Parliament Sandbox to create them?

Bar Soho, Worlds End Pub, London Lezbo, Comptons Pub and Madame Lala's are open throughout the weekend with events in each venue.  Join the London City Events group for full details.

Lifestyles - Lezbo the New Nightclub

Adding to the diverse and cosmoplitan appeal of London City, we are pleased to announce the opening of a new Nightclub in London City3 Victoria, called Lezbo.

This cosy, modern new club is designed for ladies who like ladies, although gentlemen guests are most welcome.

Lezbo is open every day except Mondays and Fridays from 2pm SL (10pm UK)

This exciting new club plays the best mixed dance music in town and is managed by the wonderfully multi-talented Ruby Jones.

London City has a long established Diversity Policy.  We are committed to ensuring the best experience to the broad spectrum of visitors to the estate.

London City Diversity Policy

We recognise the differences that exist between people beyond age and experience in SL, such as gender, race, enthnicity, mental and physical ability, creed, colour, caste, sexual orientation, age, education and other statuses. We believe that these differences and varied perspectives that people bring with them has a positive impact on this community and is a strength to be embraced.

Weekend in Review - 19-20 November

Hello kiddies, auntie Bailey here again with another weekend roundup.  Please bear with me on this, I am a little sore today as I was hit by one of the new London buses yesterday - quite a surprise as I was in my rooftop garden at the time...

On Saturday we had the fantastic Helvis Xue performing live in Regent's Park - about as close to the real Elvis as we could get without coaxing him out of hiding in the chippy in Skegness.  The sim was full to bursting and he lulled us all with some smooth tunes first before rocking our socks off.

Helvis Xue on stage
The audience adoring Helvis
Sunday saw us having a hoedown in Comptons pub, which is always a novelty but thankfully it wasn't my turn to sweep up all the straw afterwards.

Elsewhere in London City 3: Victoria things are progressing well.  A newsagent has set up shop there and the new club for ladies who like ladies, Lezbo, is close to opening.  On London City 2: West End, the World's End pub is proving to be popular with a range of events such as strip bingo(!) and trivia contests.

Strip bingo at World's End...
Rumour has it that following the appearance of a few signs of Christmas across the city, the seasonal festivities will be getting bigger over the next few days...watch this space for details.

Helvis in The Park on Saturday 1pm SL (9pm UK)

A couple of weeks ago Helvis Xue, a Live Elvis performer packed Comptons pub with 90 people on a Sunday night, all falling over each other, trying to see this fantastic performer.

It is with great pleasure that we can announce that on Saturday, the concert at Party in The Park in London will be Helvis, performing LIVE on the Main Stage.

This is an enormously popular event, so please come to the warm-up party at 12pm SL (8pm UK) and claim your spot on the dance floor.  The Live Concert will start at 1pm SL (9pm UK).

Children in Need UK

Tonight across the UK it is the BBC Fundraiser for impoverished and disabled children, "Children In Need".

To donate to this wonderful cause, click any of the Children In Need signs in London and you will be redirected to the BBC site where you can donate any amount big or small directly to Children In Need.

Our opinion of fundraisers inside SL is that often you have no way of knowing where your money went to or if it ever got there, so by going to the BBC site you can be absolutely assured that your donation ends up with the right people.

Weekend in Review - 12-13 November

Following the usual insanity of a Friday in London City as the weekend was welcome first at Bar Soho and then Madame Lala's London Revue, Saturday proved to be a mixed day.

We were saddened when we learned that the schedule artist for the concert in Regent's Park, the amazing Mapoo Little, had to cancel, but thrilled that our Tina Turner tribute was able to take over the performing honours at short notice.  Ms Turner did a fantastic job of rocking the audience who all looked resplendent in their outfits for the Best in Gold contest that was running throughout the concert.

The audience assembled for Tina's show
Sunday morning saw the usual party revellers in a more sombre mood as we gathered at the cenotaph for a short Remembrance Sunday service and observation of the two minute silence at 11am GMT.
Gathered together in an act of remembrance
On Sunday evening, Adevina Citron-Gearz returned to the stage in Comptons for a live set featuring a selection of songs from a wide variety of genres.

LIVE Performers in London this weekend

We have two great LIVE concerts in London this weekend for you.

On Saturday in Regent's Park, the hugely popular and immensely talented Mapoo Little returns for a LIVE concert.  Party in the Park starts at 12pm SL (8pm UK) with Mapoo taking to the stage at 1pm SL.

On Sunday, at Comptons pub, making a her first return visit to London City is Adevina Citron, a diverse performer singing a huge range of songs and taking requests from the audience. Concert at 12pm SL (8pm UK).

Plus regular weekend entertainment from Bar Soho, The Palladium Club, Madame Lala's and the brand new World's End Pub in London City West End.

See you for a great London Weekend!

Armistice Day

Armistice Day is observed every 11th November, to commemorate the signing of the armistice between the Allies and Germany on 11 November 1918.   This significant treaty brought an end to World War I.

It is marked by two minutes silence at 11am on the 11th November in respect and remembrance of the 20 million people who died during the conflict.

You can visit the Cenotaph in London City to pay respects and to collect a poppy to wear.  Clicking one of the wreaths will send you a link to the Royal British Legion.

Weekend in Review - 4-6 November

Auntie Bailey here again after another insane weekend in London City.  A crowded dancefloor at Bar Soho on Friday meant we were all hot and sweaty in our leather and latex gear as we partied our way towards the weekend.  A quick shower and a change of clothing later, the party continued at Madame Lala's London Revue.  Thanks to the new transport system in place, people were able to journey between the two venues without risking their lives aboard Billy's bus - which hopefully reduced the number of skidmarks.

On Saturday morning we all awoke to find that a funfair had arrived in Regent's Park.  A couple of rides and some 'refreshment' vans and stalls had taken position around the main concert area, no doubt as a cunning ploy to tempt drunken revellers from the concerts with their produce.  I was accosted by a couple of guys who tried to tempt me with their meat, but as is always the case in such situations their meat looked a little suspect and they didn't have very big portions.  I would advise pet owners to be sure of the whereabouts of their animals while such vendors are around; though I cannot prove the produce is less than high quality, I for one will certainly be keeping my pussy secure.

The funfair in Regent's Park
On the subject of cats - and other animals - I hope everyone made sure their pets were tucked safely away on Saturday as their was a bonfire and fireworks extravaganza in Regent's Park.  Numbers were consistently in the upper 90s, with the sim maxed out for a large part of the evening.  An additional draw came as the result of the weekend's big concert, which featured pert and perky pop princess Kylie on stage in her famous gold hotpants.

Kylie in those hotpants

Fireworks abound as Kylie takes to the stage
The night sky ablaze with colourful fireworks
Not content with drawing huge crowds on Saturday, Sunday continued in a similar manner with the first signs of winter creeping in to London City with the arrival of the ice skating rink.  Comptons pub later played host to Elvis - in the shape of Helvis Xue who treated to the assembled masses with a selection of hits made famous by Mr Presley and some interpretations of other songs in the style of Elvis.

Sunday Sunday

What a tremendous turn out to Bonfire Night and Kylie!   London City was filled to capacity with 100 people throughout and it looks like you enjoyed yourselves.

Don't forget that this evening at 8pm UK time (that's 1pm SL time), Helvis Xue will be performing LIVE in Compton's Pub.  This is a very popular entertainer, so if you had problems getting in last night, please arrive early today!

Also in the news, London City 3 is nearing completion of its initial build.  Yesterday saw the opening of Parliament and today, four brand new bespoke houses are available to rent for the first time.
Check out the progress of London City3 "Victoria", here.

The World's End Pub

Introducing the new pub in London, The World's End Pub, in London City2, based upon the oldest pub in London!

Pop in to this friendly pub any time you like.

Landlady Loulou has decided that the main thrust of this pub will be for voice chat, games and competitions and model it around how a pub works in real life, a drop-in centre for the latest gossip.

Staffed before and after the clubs open and and close, World's End is a great addition to the London City scenery.

Situated on the Thames, this pub has a classic interior and a great outside boating area.  Be sure to check it out!

Weekend in Review - 28-30 October

Hello my lovelies...auntie Bailey here again with another weekend roundup from the wonderful world of London City.  We did our usual Bar Soho and Madame Lala's Revue stuff on Friday night...thankfully we managed to get through the evening without any bus crashes, chipped nails, etc.

Madame Lala's: Always a scream...
On Saturday we were treated to the Monstrous Ball in Regent's Park and you have to admit, in London City we are really amazing when it comes to holding balls.  DJ Ruby was on the decks with a selection of suitably scary tunes and there were prize money contests every half an hour.  Great efforts were made on outfits and everyone seemed to have a spooky old time.

Sunday at Comptons continued in a scary manner, although it was a different kind of scary as Rolf Harris reprised his act.

London City: The Monstrous Ball

Thank you to everyone who came to the Monstrous Ball last night in London City.
We were amazed at the extremely high calibre of monsters frequenting the event and congratulations to those of you who won in the 2000L prize give away,  your avatars were amazing!
