Weekend in Review - 26-27 November

Yes it is that time of the week again - auntie Bailey is here with the news and reviews from the weekend once more.  Doesn't time just fly when you are having fun.

On Saturday in Regent's Park we had our Neil Diamond tribute back for a singalong on the winter concert stage.  The contest theme was Best in Body Hair and/or Side Burns.  As the party was held on the ice rink, it seemed appropriate that everyone was wrapped up in an extra layer of hair, even if they did have to remove some clothing to prove it...

Altogether now...Sweet Caroline...
Sunday at Comptons had Rat Pack inspired music and another of those strange contest themes that crops up at Comptons...Best in Bad Hair.  It seemed there was no shortage of bad hair in SL and DJ Ruby played some of her old LPs.  If you are too young to know what an LP is, please don't ask me as I may be forced to hit you with my walking stick.

Hair today...and hopefully gone tomorrow
There were parties across other London City venues - Bar Soho, Madame Lala's London Revue and Lezbo - so we were not short of musical entertainment and chat.

Next Saturday in the Park, we have Helvis Xue performing live again for us!

Help On Hand with London Support

Regent's Park is more than just a hang-out for chatting and socialising.

It offers a complimentary layer of assistance beyond the New Resident Induction program in St. James's Square in London City2.

Help is always on hand with our team of experienced Support staff, who will give one-to-one help showing new residents how to perform basic functions from unpacking boxes, finding clothing, searching places, upgrading or verifying their accounts to the more intricate matters of setting their viewers for the best performance.

Many of those forming the London Support team have been in SL for three or more years, so they have experienced most of the other strange anomalies that are very frustrating to the newer resident. They can help with Ruthed appearance, random crashing, cloud and ghosted avatars, missing inventory and have practical knowledge that can assist people with a multitude of problems that goes a lot deeper than basic induction.

So next time something happens that you don't know how to fix, head to the meeting area in Regent's Park and look for the London Support tag.  London Support is here to help new and experienced residents alike.

Lifestyles - Lezbo the New Nightclub

Adding to the diverse and cosmoplitan appeal of London City, we are pleased to announce the opening of a new Nightclub in London City3 Victoria, called Lezbo.

This cosy, modern new club is designed for ladies who like ladies, although gentlemen guests are most welcome.

Lezbo is open every day except Mondays and Fridays from 2pm SL (10pm UK)

This exciting new club plays the best mixed dance music in town and is managed by the wonderfully multi-talented Ruby Jones.

TP over for fun in this friendly environment

London City has a long established Diversity Policy.  We are committed to ensuring the best experience to the broad spectrum of visitors to the estate.

London City Diversity Policy

We recognise the differences that exist between people beyond age and experience in SL, such as gender, race, enthnicity, mental and physical ability, creed, colour, caste, sexual orientation, age, education and other statuses. We believe that these differences and varied perspectives that people bring with them has a positive impact on this community and is a strength to be embraced.

Weekend in Review - 19-20 November

Hello kiddies, auntie Bailey here again with another weekend roundup.  Please bear with me on this, I am a little sore today as I was hit by one of the new London buses yesterday - quite a surprise as I was in my rooftop garden at the time...

On Saturday we had the fantastic Helvis Xue performing live in Regent's Park - about as close to the real Elvis as we could get without coaxing him out of hiding in the chippy in Skegness.  The sim was full to bursting and he lulled us all with some smooth tunes first before rocking our socks off.

The audience adoring Helvis
Sunday saw us having a hoedown in Comptons pub, which is always a novelty but thankfully it wasn't my turn to sweep up all the straw afterwards.

Elsewhere in London City 3: Victoria things are progressing well.  A newsagent has set up shop there and the new club for ladies who like ladies, Lezbo, is close to opening.  On London City 2: West End, the World's End pub is proving to be popular with a range of events such as strip bingo(!) and trivia contests.

Strip bingo at World's End...
Rumour has it that following the appearance of a few signs of Christmas across the city, the seasonal festivities will be getting bigger over the next few this space for details.

Helvis in The Park on Saturday 1pm SL (9pm UK)

A couple of weeks ago Helvis Xue, a Live Elvis performer packed Comptons pub with 90 people on a Sunday night, all falling over each other, trying to see this fantastic performer.

It is with great pleasure that we can announce that on Saturday, the concert at Party in The Park in London will be Helvis, performing LIVE on the Main Stage.

This is an enormously popular event, so please come to the warm-up party at 12pm SL (8pm UK) and claim your spot on the dance floor.  The Live Concert will start at 1pm SL (9pm UK).

Children in Need UK

Tonight across the UK it is the BBC Fundraiser for impoverished and disabled children, "Children In Need".

To donate to this wonderful cause, click any of the Children In Need signs in London and you will be redirected to the BBC site where you can donate any amount big or small directly to Children In Need.

Our opinion of fundraisers inside SL is that often you have no way of knowing where your money went to or if it ever got there, so by going to the BBC site you can be absolutely assured that your donation ends up with the right people.

Please show your support in-world by clicking the Free Ears Vendor next to the Pudsey Bear and wearing your ears!
