The Fabulous London City Weekend Review

Hey  London City, How's  it going?

Time to put your feet up with a nice cuppa and relax, as I tell you about  the fantastic  time we had  over the weekend  in  the  number  one  destination  in  SL, London  City.

Here in  London  City, we strive to  bring  you unique idea's and  full  on entertainment second to  none.
We have a great team  of  dedicated staff, form Support and greeters, club hosts and Dj's  right through to  management, all  with  one goal  in mind, to bring  you the best virtual experience and fun in Second  Life.

Each Saturday,  the staff bring you a fantastic  concert  in  Regents  Park, where special guests  take to  the stage  and  entertain  the masses that teleport  in for  this awesome event,  it's always good to  arrive early as  the event fills quickly.

This week we saw  the famous duo, Simon and  Garfunkel.

An american music duo, singer-songwriter Paul  Simon and  singer  Art  Garfunkel, both  born in 1941.

They started  their singing career as  Tom and  Jerry, they had a minor hit in 1957,  but Simon and Garfunkel rose to fame  in  1965, on  the strength  of  their  hit "Sound  Of  Silence".

Known  for  their  superb harmonies, London City sang  along with  some  of  their  huge songs such as  "Bridge  Over Troubled  Water",  "I Am A Rock", "Mrs  Robinson", and  one  of  their  best  know  "Bright  Eyes"  form  the film Watership  Down. (not a dry  eye  in  the place )

Everyone  loved  singing along with  the songs  they  know  and  love.

Tension  ran  high between  this duo, with  them  breaking  up and reforming several times.
The  last reunion they played  in Central  Park,  New York in 1981,  they played to  a 500,000 strong crowd.

Along  side  the fantastic concert, we ran a best in  60's event where a lucky  resident could  win a huge  amount of  Lindens.  What a hoot,  everyone had a thoroughly awesome time.

On Sunday, we joined  the gang at  Comptons Pub,  one of  the  oldest Pubs  in  London.

Here is a relaxed atmosphere, and chilled, this week we saw  Nat King  Cole tinkle  the ivories and swoon the crowd,  with  his  soft creamy tones.

Comptons is a place  you can  meet friends, hang  out and  join  in the fun.

Well  that's  all from  me  this week,  I'll see  you  next time for  more fun and frolics in  London  City.... Number 1 destination  in  SL.... accept  no  imitations.

Voice Voting - Round One

Round one voting results     Good = 71  (47%)    Bad = 79  (53%)

We thought we might collect a hundred votes over the course of the weekend, but 150 people voted within the first few hours and our opinion poll is first to 150.

We suspect a bit of skulduggery with the voting system, especially as people were paying others to vote certain ways and teleporting them in to vote!

So the first round of results are inconclusive, except to demonstrate that people have very strong views for and against this ability.

After 150 votes, the voting system stops polling people, so therefore a second round of ballots is required.

Get ready to vote for a second time.

The Voting Booth is Back

No Such Thing As Bad Publicity?

This avatar obviously felt very strongly about something she thinks we have done wrong.

Strongly enough to create a rather good sign about it.  Unfortunately when I IM'd her she would not comment about it, so it's impossible to say if there is any merit in her billboard.

Would it be bitchy for me to say, thanks for the advert and to point out that wearing a billboard about it smacks of being a drama queen? :)

Come visit her now in London City3

Chas and Dave and Jellied Eels

Oh what fun we had on Sunday at Comptons Pub.

Superb live act Coffee Jarrowerer sang for a full hour, an eclectic mix of songs and performed his own music with his guitar and harmonica.  A truly superb star turn.

The event was our first traditional Knees-Up at Comptons and featured Chas and Dave, Mrs Mills and Florrie Forde, singing the original pub songs, which visitors sang along and helped themselves to Pie and Mash and delicious Jellied Eels!

The music was great, the beer was flowing and what a way to spend a Sunday, down at the old bull and bush aka Compton's.

Sunday at Compton's

Live Singer and Musician Coffee Jaworower will be here at 12pm SL

An interesting Bio:
Coffee was born and raised in the forest sims of second life sometimes a brown bear sometimes a a panda/cat/human with spines he spent his early years camping and losing money in the SL gambling dens. Whilst listening to the many fine performers that toured the clubs he dreamed that someday he would be up on the stage.  During this period Coffee became addicted to Honey, often taking 5 or six pots a day, but with every pot he consumed  his music became sweeter  and more enriched .Today Coffee still lives the wildlife blending classic hits from the  60's onwards with more obscure  raw sugary tunes  played on his acoustic  six string with the  occasional screech of  harmonica.

It was  the  fab   5.... 5  guys  that ooze talent and  it can be said  they  have  the  X-factor!!!

That's  right  chums,  Take  That in  Regents  Park  on  Saturday ....can  you flippin  believe  it,  yes,  they  took  time  out to fly  in to  London and  entertain  us  for  over an  hour,  with  their  awesome  array  of  top  hit  songs.

Take  That,  an  English  group,  made  up  of  Gary  Barlow,  Robbie  Williams,  Howard Donald,  Jason  Orange,  and  Mark  Owen.

The  guys  have had  27  top 40  singles  in  the charts,  and 16  top 5  singles, 11  of which  reached  the  number  one  spot.

Take  That went down a storm  and  they are always  number  one  with  London City.
This  is  the  third  time  the  Guys  have  been to  London  and  every time  the concert  just gets  better.

Robbie  Williams  sfter  leaving  the band  rejoined  in 2010,  and  they released a new  album ,  it swiftly became  the  fastest selling album of  the 21st century.

Everyone  came to  boogie  with  the band  singing  along to such  hits as  " Everything  Changes " , " Relight  My  Fire ", "Pray",  "Babe" and  many  many  more....

With a custom  built stage, ( made  by yours  truly ) took  inspiration from  the  Circus  tour stage.

People flocked  in  their  hundreds,  for  a great  night  of  fun and  dancing...

They got so  excited  they even  rushed  the  stage  ....

The lads are  such great sports  they didn't mind  one  bit, and  enjoyed  the  interaction  with  the fans.

There was also a best in  British  contest  too  where  residents  were invited to  turn  up  with  some  kind  of  Union  Jack  clothing  what a hoot!!!

A winner was  voted  for  and  that  lucky resident  won a stash  full  of  Lindens ... Well done  them  :)
