The Year in Review: July to December

July started with a whole weekend of parties and concerts to celebrate London LGBT pride. Dolly, Bette, Cher and Shirley all performed.

London City celebrates its 2nd Birthday, another party and then the Olympics begin, with concerts, parties and events. Linden Lab puts us on the splash and login screens. 

Our wonderful team excels itself but is a little frazzled by the end of the month having staged three major events, each spanning multiple days, plus the regular events.

August and the pace is relentless.  The Olympics are in full swing and the concerts continue. We fill in a simple form on the internet and become as official as others who are making out that the olympic committee has 'chosen' them.

Our fledgling sim, London City3 becomes self sufficient as a Homestead and pays for its own upgrade to a full Adult rated region. 
The entire region is rebuilt

Lezbo closes its doors for the last time and Juiced club opens.   The London Adult hub becomes and official LL new user destination.

The Nottinghill Carnival is held and is a wonderful success.  The last Bank Holiday of the year before Christmas has performers, Adevina Citron, Bob Marley, Donna Summer and regulars, Boney M.

We perform our most ambitious show to date, War of The Worlds and it goes down a storm.

In September, building work continues.  The London Dungeons in London City3 opens, sharing a horrible history with its visitors.   Disco Spectacular in London City becomes an Editors Pick, Juiced becomes the only club in London City to have a different themed interior every night and the temporary hub in London City3 is replaced by a bespoke building featuring Little Ben and the Pegoda.

October starts with the usual flurry of activity to get the regions ready for the Halloween Season, which runs for a month inSL!   We release our direct Teleporting HUD which allows visitors to teleport directly to a London destination with one click.

DX Exchange relocates its UK Headquarters exclusively to London City and begins sponsoring our events as a part of our new partnership.

In November, London City3 paid for its sister region, the fourth sim in London City, named London Adult.  This brand new region will be developed in 2013 and will offer an entirely new and complimentary level of entertainment to that found in LC3.

And here we are in December 2012 at Christmas, with shows from Rolf Harris, Adevina Citron, Demis Roussos, The Proms and Andy Williams.

London City is not the oldest London in Second Life by any means, but it is the most successful. 
It is also the most popular destination in all of Second Life.

To be honest, the theme of being London is not what makes it a runaway success.  This is evident by looking around at similar named and largely deserted estates.  London City is popular due to innovative creations, often copied by others, fun events often crashed by others and a dedicated and skilled team who graft at their hobby and get a real kick out of being the best.

Thank you to you for making it what it is.  A vibrant, diverse and enjoyable community.

The Year in Review: January to June

January saw the opening of the Job Centre in London City 3, a place for residents to look for work and also claim benefits.

The Worlds End Pub in London City2 opened with CoffeeQueen68 as manager.  It will soon be her first anniversary.

In February we held our first ever job fayre, finding work for new residents. Our Gridwide unique visitors stat dips.. After 4 months at the number 1 slot we fall 2 places to number 3.

Take That and Adele performed for the first time.

In March, Regent's Park got a total makeover to accomodate new residents now being born directly into London City.  London City wins back its crown of number 1 destination in Second Life.

The Dubliners take to the stage for St. Patricks day.

Building classes begin in the London City Sandbox with RubyJones.
Vanessa Blaylock holds Dance Anywhere an event with hundreds of participants all dancing by Trafalgar Square.

April the 1st gets off to a bizarre start as some joker sets the landing zone 50 meters above the ground and watches the residents splat on landing.

The old Comptons pub is demolished and rebuilt to feature both the pub and an underground club called The London Substation, featuring music of the 50's and 60's and managed by Roy Geddins.

London City is asked by Linden Lab to become an official Pathfinder Beta region.  The regions high traffic makes it an ideal testing ground for this new technology.

We hold and exploding easter egg hunt.  When the eggs are clicked, you either win money or get blown up.  The contraversial crucifix race takes place. The London City marathon is run and London hasn't see so many runners since the lootings.

The Plaza Hotel, free homes for everyone opens.   The New User Experience opens in Comptons.
John Denver performs his first and last concert.

In May we hold the Mayoral Elections with Boris winning 43% of the vote.  DX Exchange moves into London City.  A tribute is held for Robin Gibb, Engelbert gets robbed at the Eurovision, but luckily we have Brotherhood of Man performing to keep the crowd energized!

In June, London City celebrates the Queens Diamond Jubilee, packing the bank holiday with concerts, simulcast broadcasts, competitions and sponsored events.  In just three days, over 18,000 visitors pass through the estate and our Youtube advert starts trending.

We also celebrate SL9B, Glen Campbell makes his one and only appearance in concert and Mika performs his first and last show.

Madame Lala's club get a complete makeover and we perform the Proms for her madge.

Christmas in London City

This weekend we have three great concerts to bring us right into Christmas time!

On Saturday we have the premier of The Andy Williams Christmas Show.
Andy Williams presented a seasonal special on TV from 1971 to 1977 and although he died earlier this year, was involved in every step of the stage show currently running at the Moon River theatre.

On Sunday the wonderful live singer Adevina Citron will be here in Soho with her special Christmas show.  Adevina also takes requests, so if you have something you would love to hear, just drop her an IM.

On Monday, Christmas Eve, London City presents the Christmas Proms, our popular Classical Rock show with all the pomp and circumstance of the traditional British Proms Concerts with specially introduced carol songs.

On Christmas Day and Boxing day, we have some special parties in our outdoor arena, whilst many of our cast and crew take a couple of well earned family and rest days, but return on Thursday with Amy McDonald, The Seekers and other fun daytime shows to ensure that your Christmas in London City is one to remember.

Spotlight On Style: Blow-Up

Blow-Up located in London City Soho features a range of provocative clothing and accessories.  The fun and flirty fashions are complimented by jewellery, glasses and lollipops amongst other items.

The Santa Girl outfit comes complete with top, skirt, panties, garters, socks, collar, gloves, boots and hat.  The skirt, top and gloves are in a rich red velvet and come with white fur trim.  The black patent leather boots also have white fur trim.  The garters are accessorised with a bow, bells and holly.  The skirt belt has various Christmas bits hanging from it.  As if all that isn't enough, a hand held candy cane, mouth candy cane and bottle of champagne are also included to get you in to the festive mood.

I know, I know, I'm late blogging, and I'm sorry, Life is pretty hectic at the moment in  London City, fantastic events, huge festive concerts, new clubs, new residents, new staff.... you name it, it's all happening here.... and how fabulous.
The whole team have pulled out all the stops this month to make  this years  SL Christmas  the best ever!!!
So, make sure you are part of it,  Look out for note cards  and billboards listing all the fun to be had.

So you  log  in to SL, then head to the best destination ....London City, where there's 4 sims  of fantastic fun to be had.

We meet up in the hub, the hub is a bustling metropolis of Avatar's chatting and dancing and having fun, this is a great place to meet new friends and getting chatting to other residents of  London  City.
 Then its time to head to one of our Clubs for a great night out.






You could head to The Worlds End  Pub.
Hosted by  Katty, and  Coffee Queen, this bubbly pair have bingo, truth or dare, events and great music, if you want to sample a real life  British  Pub in  SL, this is the destination to choose.










OR, Feeling in  a Retro mood,














you could start your evening in Substation, where Roy and his team are waiting to entertain you with music from the 50's and  60's Substation is sure to get your toe tapping, teamed with fun chat and great contest.

 OR, maybe you want to head to Victoria,  our Adult  sim, here the crown springs into action, with great music, and fun contests with an adult theme.


This is a real hoot, where almost anything goes, nice easy relaxed and ever so saucy ... just like we like it  :P

You could also try Bar Soho, cool and swanky, in the heart of Soho,similar to the  RL clubs in London, great music for you to dance to.
There is a different Dj / Host combination  every night to ensure the venue  is fresh and catering to everyone's taste.

Later you could pop along to  Madame  Lala's, based  on the RL Madame  Jojo's, this cosy club  brings glamour and sparkle  to Soho, here you will find  Dj Firece playing a mix of delightful and kitsch tunes with yours truly as host.

OR, you could head back to Victoria, to Juiced.

 Juiced is a singles club with a difference, there are themed contests, where the whole club is transformed to enhance the event, and  the music is also themed  to deliver a full package.























London City also see's  a fantastic  Open Air Concert that's Free to all who attend, but be warned places fill so quickly people have to queue to get in,



 but once there what a fabulous night of free entertainment, where you can see the best RL singers that SL has to offer, or maybe a tribute band , which is always great fun, and this week was no exception,


he was born  March 1930,he grew up in Perth, Western Australia, he is a popular entertainer, musician, song-writer, composer, painter and T.V personality.... can you tell who it is yet ???

That's right the ever popular Rolf Harris AO, CBE.
Yes Aussie  Rolf joined us for an awesome evening of song, and chat, we found ourselves  singing along to "Sun Arise", "Tie Me Kangeroo Down, Sport" and "two Little Boys" there wasn't a dry eye in the house.





No stranger to London City, it was a pleasure to have Rolf back with us, and we cant wait to see him again soon.

If that wasn't enough for you, there was a great best in Festive contest, where some lucky Resident could win a huge amount of Linden Dollars.






We also have The Arcade, up and running, this event is running once a month, and is a must, for a different scene and more fabulous music.

We also have the new  look  Palladium, where all your adult needs are catered for by gorgeous, flirty, friendly girls, all waiting to meet you, and make your Sl go with a bang!!.

Spotlight On Style: Thati Miles Fashion

Located on London City 3: Victoria is Thati Miles Fashion store.  It features a range of fun and flirty dresses for the woman who is not afraid to flaunt what she has to offer without showing too much.

The picture shows Rachel in red.  The dress also comes in blue and black.  The delicately patterned fabric is accented with gently sparkling gold highlights both top and bottom.  The neckline and back both feature a ring and strap detailing.  The strap detail on the front helps to accentuate the bust and is guaranteed to focus the eye of admirers!

The dress does not come with shoes or accessories, but is still reasonably priced as the texturing is very good and creates an eye catching look.  Ideal for the Christmas party season and beyond.

Christmas Season Concerts

It's the most wonderful time of the year.... and Saturday is the first day of advent, so the season is well and truly upon us.

We have a fun line-up of concerts for this year with some great audience participation events.

Starting this weekend Boney M are back with their festive show and the prize is 500L for Best in Disco.

Rolf Harris returns to the stage the Saturday afterwards singing his most famous songs.

Demis is going to be dancing on some specially reinforced Ice in a special Christmas show singing some gorgeous carols.

In tribute to Andy Williams who died in September and in keeping with the tradition of being the last Saturday before Christmas, The Andy Williams Christmas Show, is a brand new Concerts for fans of the veteran crooner.

Fabulous live vocal artist, Adevina Citron returns on Sunday 23rd December sing Christmas Songs in her Yuletide Show and on the night before Christmas, we see in the day itself with the London Proms.

With extra shows and our nightclubs open throughout the Christmas Season, London City remains the place to be see in Second Life.

Spotlight On Style: Delphi's Designs

I have chosen something for the men out there this week again.  I paid a visit to Delphi's Designs, which has three shops spread across London City.  It stocks a range of male and female clothing including outfits, accessories and tattoos.

I chose the Grax II outfit which comes with black leather pants and a top layer containing a red and grey argyle pattern sweater over an untucked white shirt.  Both the pants and jumper come with prim cuffs and the outfit is nicely textured.  The outfit is reasonably price and is transfer so you can buy it for the man in your life if not for yourself - well Christmas is approaching!

The Fabulous Weekend Review 23rd ~ 25th November 2012

Hey  London City peeps, how you doing? Good? Sure you are.
 Woo-hoo what a weekend in the Best Destination  in SL. London  City Rocked !!!  ( as always ) as we all met up  in the hub.

Plus an unwelcome vagrant, which we moved  on to elsewhere









On Thursday 22nd  November, London City celebrated Thanksgiving , in Honour  of  our  American friends across the pond, each London  City venue took to  Regents Park on a road~show, first up  Bailey took to the decks, then Dj  Lily took the stage  for  Bar Soho bunch, then yours truly for the Juiced crowd. What a fabulous  night, 5 hour  non stop party, everyone  loved it with best in Festive and a Linden prize to win for the best outfit. A Packed , Full-on  Night.

Friday in London  City is always  Fun, and super busy, 3 sims of entertainment....
 In Victoria,  our  Adult sim, the night kicks  off at The Crown  Pub,  this is is a great place where Adults can  let their hair down and  join in with fantastic, and saucy adult fun.



Then  Juiced, also in Sim 3, London  Victoria, swings  into action with Dj Rosie and  me as  host.

Here Dj rosie  takes  your song requests  and  chats over her microphone to the crowd.

Over  in sim  1, Soho, Roy and Coffee Queen were partying  in Substation, with all the residents  who love retro sounds. Substation plays  the best in golden  oldies and  run fun events with a chance to win Linden Dollars.

Then on to Bar Soho, this week I was Dj, and  I  play the Best Hardcore sounds, the Bar was pumping and full to the brim, with Katty as my fantastic  host, she kept the party going with fun chat.









Saturday  in  London city, we kick off at The  Worlds  End  Pub.
Worlds  End  is a fun venue, here you will find  Coffee Queen and  Katty, they are a fun chatty duo, and host nights  like  Bingo, or cheeky truth  or dare. Always up for good chat and fun banter.and great contest, Worlds End  is  a must place to visit.






 The evening continues  in Regents  Park, here  the  London City team hosts a Free LIVE EVENT  every week. Here  the park fills to capacity of fun party people.

This week, the awesome  Frankie  Valli and  The  Four  Seasons took to the stage.

Frankie Valli, born Francesco Stephen Castelluccio, May 1934, he's  known for  his unusual, powerful falsetto voice. He has  had 29 top40 hits, like  "Sherry",  "Big  Girls Don't Cry" , "Walk Like A Man", "Can't Take  My Eyes Of You" plus many more  that we all sang along with.

What a fantastic  night, this pint sized singer really packed a punch.



Then we hot foot  over to Juiced. Juiced  is  a fun  Themed Singles  club, here the residents enjoy themed décor, and great events, this week we saw, a 1920's  Gangster Night,
and a Come  Dancing  Night.



Sunday we started  of  in Madame  Lala's  for  the Sunday Smooth. A civilized way to start you Sunday off right.

Later we head  back  to Substation,
with Roy and  his team   for  more retro sounds.

Then we head back to juiced for a fun night, great themed music and  fun chat.
