A brand new Show this weekend!
Stiff Little Fingers are a punk rock band from Belfast, Northern Ireland. They formed in 1977 at the height of the troubles, which informed much of their songwriting. They were the first punk band in Belfast to release a record ("Suspect Device" single came out on their own independent label, Rigid Digits). Their album "Inflammable Material", released in partnership with Rough Trade, became the first independent LP to enter the UK top 20.
Stiff Little Fingers, especially the lead singer and main songwriter Jake Burns, were heavily influenced by The Clash. The group started to write songs about growing up in the troubles in late 1970s Northern Ireland.
It is worth noting that the 'troubles', themselves were not restricted to Northern Ireland, as the Provisional IRA would regularly bomb mainland England, especially the capital on an almost weekly basis and were responsible for the bombing and murder of Earl Mountbatten of Burma in 1979 and the Hyde Park nail bomb atrocity in 1982.
Stiff Little Fingers, still tour the world even now and are very popular within the Punk Genre.
