Winter of Discontent UK - But Don't Panic (buy)

In Great Britain, what started as a food shortage has rapidly escalated in to a shortage of everything, from gas, electricity and petrol.

Join us for todays news, as history repeats itself by drawing parallels from Edward Heath's 3 day week in 1974 to Jim Callaghan's Winter of Discontent of 1978.

But don't take it too seriously..

London City Community Gateway rebuild

Our builders have been busy rebuilding the London City Community Gateway, from the ground up.

Based on real life Hyde Park, the largest green space in London, the new Gateway build offers a fun way to impart information to new residents, as well as engaging them in various activities to be found in the region.

Hyde Park, built in 1637, is steeped in history, and where possible we have included as many features that you would expect to find in the park, with handy (i)nfo icons that can be clicked for information about each attraction.

We have also included the beautiful Chinese Pagoda, the Diana Memorial, The old Police house and a nod to Battersea funfair, whilst including tours and information boards to assist new residents on their initial visit.

A Handsome Cab (Horse and Carriage) will also take you on a full tour of the region, so that you do not miss anything, but there still remains many secluded spots, off the beaten track, to find for yourself.

Residents can sail the Serpentine, explore the park and speakers corner, visit the holocaust memorial, Marble Arch and also win some Linden Dollars at the Amusement Arcade, whilst gaining invaluable knowledge.

Residents can visit the Dell Cafe and the Lido with their friends, ride a hot air balloon, and even try taming an eagle!  If they get stuck, specific help boards will assist, can be clicked for more information, and also a link back the relevant knowledge base for expanded help.

Most of the attractions have interactive features, so please come and take a look at the new London City Gateway.   As always, the end of the tutorial leads to our main social region, London City, and the freebie store, where help is on hand to get your avatar looking amazing!

London City Gateway is located here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/London%20City%20Gateway/170/189/23

And finally....  we have cleared some space on the ground floor of the Freebie Store, for some brand new Men's clothing arriving this weekend!

Roy Orbison in Concert on Saturday

Join us on Saturday in Regent's Park for Roy Orbison in London City.

Roy Orbison, The Big O, was an American singer/songwriter best known for his songs, Crying, Only The Lonely, Oh Pretty Woman, Running Scared, You Got It and many more hits.

Contrary to popular belief, the reclusive Orbison wore big black sunglasses not  because he was blind or cross eyed.  He adopted them because he suffered terrible stage fright (which prevented him touring) and found them to be a useful shield between himself and the world outside.

Roy died in 1988 aged just 52.  A year later, You Got It became the final song of Roy Orbison's to chart inside the top ten.

He has a brand new Album just released with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, which hit the record stores on 3rd November.

Party starts at 12pm SL (8pm UK) with the Concert and hour later at 1pm SL.
