London City votes for Hard Brexit

Last week the Prime Minister called for an early election in June in attempt to secure a mandate from the people to perform a quick exit from the EU.

We asked you if you preferred to go through the full negotiating period (a soft exit) with certain non-negotiable agreements in place, or you fancied taking your chances with a swift (hard) exit from the UK.

65% voted for a hard Brexit, whilst 17% voted for a soft Brexit and 17% were unsure.

Thanks for taking part.

Soft or Hard Brexit?

Decisions, decisions...

Theresa May has called a General Election in the UK for 8th June.  The third time in three years that the whole country has been to the polls.

It seems likely she will win and increase her majority in the Commons, and this gives her the mandate to push-on with a swift exit from the European Union instead of a long good bye.

The problem is this.  Do we hang around like an old scorned lover, in a broken down relationship trying to get the pots and pans in settlement, or do we just pack our things and sling our hook?

As things stand, a Soft Brexit means we keep paying in to the EU after we leave and continue to permit free movement of people in exchange for access to what used to be "the common market".

Or, do we just leave, stop paying the EU and regain control of our borders?  We would have to strike up our own trade deals and forge new friendships and renew acquaintances with the Commonwealth countries.   USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand (who we are currently prohibited from trading with under EU law) have all indicated that they would like to strike up trade routes with the UK.

As always, this poll is just for fun.. So which option would you choose?

The Annual Egg n Spoon

Thanks for taking part in the annual Egg n Spoon race.  Winners were Nigel, Brett and Coffee (who cheated a bit).

We were going to film it, until we remembered we had a perfectly good video of it from last year, and since its a lot of giant eggs with heads poking out without any names, we thought we would just re-run last years video and hope no one notices:

Judith Durham and The Seekers

The Seekers are an Australian up-tempo folk/pop quartet, formed in 1962.

They were the first Australian pop group to achieve major chart and sales success in the United Kingdom and the United States.

The group had Top 10 hits in the 1960s with I'll Never Find Another You, A World of Our Own, Morningtown Ride and Georgy Girl.  "The Carnival Is Over" is still one of the top 50 best-selling singles of all time in the UK.

Reformed in the late 1990's, The Seekers were still regularly performing until last year.  However due to the ill health of lead singer Judith Durham, the band has just ended their farewell tours.  This year a new show on Broadway called Georgy Girl and telling the musical story of the band has reignited interest in the group.

Enjoy The Seekers in London City on Saturday as the start of our Easter Shows.   Party starts at 12pm SL time (8pm UK) with the show an hour later.

Maximum Agents - Region Capacity Raised

On 3rd April, the lab began testing new server code and invited London City Estate, to be a part of this test.

The new code increases the capacity (maximum agents) allowed on each region.

It does this in a very specific way, it allows Premium members to enter, even when the region is already full.  Also, Region owners and Estate managers can always enter a region, no matter how many avatars are in the region.

This is how the new code will increase region capacity:
Full Regions by 10% (100 to 110)
Homesteads by 25% (20 to 25)
Open Spaces by 20% (10 to 12)

The new entry capacity limits are however available only to Premium members.  For Basic accounts the limits remain unchanged.   For example, a full region that supports 110 users, but currently has 105 users on it, will report at full to basic users and prevent them entering, whilst a further 5 Premium accounts will be able to enter.

As many of our visitors will know, there are times, particularly at the weekends, when our regions reach capacity and this new code will add an extra layer of privilege for Premium members.

Linden Lab have just released this blog about Region Capacity

Information about Premium accounts can be found here: https://secondlife.com/premium/

We have reviewed Premium accounts many times on this blog, search "Premium" in the box at the top.   Also check out this story we ran about discounted premium membership and watch for similar offers.
