The Love Machine

Mr and Mrs Bliss found true love.
Using NASA technology, London City presents, "The Love Machine".

A twentieth-century spooled computer, that uses elaborate algorithms, to match you to your perfect date!

All you have to do is touch the machine and tell it, if you are looking for a man or a woman, and the computer will, in an instant, access trillions of lonely heart's profile, buzz, click and fart a bit, and then spit out the name of your perfect match.

Our  state of the art computer which formerly powered the entire grid, is only here for a short time, so hurry along during February and find the love of your life!

Waving from the cloud!

Hang on to your hairnets everyone, Second Life is fully in the Cloud!

On Tuesday, the lab posted an announcement on their blog saying that it is mission accomplished apart from a handful of issues.  We're off their old hardware and all located in one big fluffy cloud on the Amazon Web Servers.   They also posted video of a giant shredding machine making robotic mince meat out of their old hard disks. The video below (taken from the link below) shows a good few continents getting mashed.

In other news, it seems the acquisition of Linden Lab has gone through and it is under new management. The lab says it will give them even more resources!

Head over to their blog to read the news yourself, now that I've told you the plot.

Out with the old.. shredding of the old kit.

Hang in there

On Monday evening, Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the devolved governments of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland announced a second National Lockdown for Great Britain.

With immediate effect, the 70 million people of Great Britain are quarantined with a "stay at home" order that will be reviewed again on February 15th, but widely expected to last until mid-March.

Heralding this lockdown as 'One Final Push', is is hoped that at least 20 million of the most vulnerable people will receive the Oxford vaccine, developed in the UK and marketed by AstraZeneca UK, by the end of February.

Life should slowly start returning to normal in the spring.

Since social mixing is now prohibited by law, this undoubtedly adds up to a lot of people feeling isolated, or bored, or anxious, or a combination of these things.

We hope to alleviate some of that in London City. Each day, thousands of people, pop in, or hang out and nearly all have a story to tell.  The greatest support network is user-to-user interaction, with the varying life perspectives that Residents bring with them and are willing to share with one another.

As always, our clubs and events begin every day around 12pm SL time (8pm UK) and we have a weekly outdoor concert and party on Saturdays and a double event running every Sunday from 11am SL time.

So if you are feeling at a loose end, want some company, or just want to talk, come to London City. With your company, together, we will get through this once again.

Hang in there!

Our Cilla to play this Saturday

Happy New Year chuck!

There were two main acts that dominated Britain in the 1960's.   One was the Beatles, the other was Cilla.

Whilst perhaps not quite as tuneful as Dusty or Sandy, Our Cilla had an appeal to those who were waiting for the next big thing to emerge from Liverpool and the Beatles fans catapulted her into super stardom.

Singing all her hits and some that weren't - Don't miss this most famous icon of the 1960s on Saturday in London City.  The party starts at 12pm SL (8pm UK) with the show an hour later at 1pm SL.
