Summer Time begins

The clocks in Europe went forward 1 hour in the night, and here in UK, British Summer time begins.

This means that we're back in sync with the USA and the standard 8 hour difference in SL time.  You can once again expect our events at regular SL times.

At 11am SL today (7pm UK) join Bailey and Coffee for Substation, and at 1pm SL (9pm UK), join Katty on the Beach for Quizzes and Music as Worlds End goes on the road.

Let My People Go

Today, the 29th March, was to be the day that Britain would officially exit from the European Union.

But after almost three years of fruitless negotiations between our government and the EU, we are still no closer to finding a way out of the treaty. The EU has now decided on our behalf that our new exit date will be 12th April instead of  our chosen date.  They can do this because international law supersedes national law.

Presumably these three extra weeks of further wrangle and uncertainty will make all the difference, but for whom?

Today the Prime Minster, once again presented her exit deal for a vote, but it was defeated yet again by 286 to 344 votes.

Although the default is to leave the EU on the 12th April with no-deal, the house has rejected this, and also rejected eight other exit strategies.  Additionally it has rejected, No-Brexit and a second referendum.

The EU has just declared an impromptu summit on 10th April, no doubt to extend the date we are leaving again.   It seems the EU has the intention of never letting Britain leave, and that our Parliament is supporting this.

In fact, it seems that the only people who want to leave the European Union, are us, the Electorate, where 52% of us voted in favour of leaving.

London City had planned a host of activities around this momentous Brexit occasion, including a carnival focusing on the  positives of taking back our sovereignty, but alas, the EU is not releasing their grip just yet,  and so therefore our celebratory festivities are currently on hold.

If we do ever manage to leave, we will resurrect these planned festivities, that we had hoped to bring you this weekend!

A new View(er) of the Hub area

A busy week in London City, saw not only the Gateway remodelled for Spring, but also the main Plaza Hub area of London City revamped to give it a more summery look!

These pictures are taken using the new Singularity Test viewer, with the PyFX filters which, because they appear on screen in real-time just like Windlight settings, can be used not only for your personal ambience, but for pictures and video too!

The Singularity Developers are working feverishly to bring out a full release of the viewer very soon!

More news as it happens.

Bremain

The EU referendum was the largest ever democratic vote in the UK, with 33 million people taking part and 17 million (52%) voting to leave the EU.

With just 9 days to go before we are due to leave the EU, this week Brexit is sounding more like Bremain.  Politicians on both sides of the house, are doing everything they can to overturn the will of the people they represent and to thwart Brexit once and for all.

You can make your voice heard by flying the flag of your choice, "Leave means Leave", or opt for the Tony Blair approach of "Stop Brexit", regardless of how the people voted!

They are available just outside the Freebie Megastore here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/London%20City/102/223/24

Gateway Makeover

The Gateway is receiving a makeover as part of the "Spring refresh".  The new layout establishes the 'city mood', before new residents enter the main London City regions.

New users now have to opportunity to do a bit of freebie shopping in London streets, go charity shop shopping, visit the fair, or sail on the boating lake, whilst learning the basics of Second Life.

We hope you like the look of the new layout.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Good morning, and how is your head?

A friend of mine once said to me, that if he woke up with a few bruises on a Sunday morning, he knew it had been a good Saturday night.    If SL bodies bruised, there would be as grid-wide shortage of witch hazel today.

We celebrated last night with The Dubliners, and boy did we have a ball.  It is not over yet, as today is St. Patrick's day itself and Substation at 12pm SL and then Worlds End on the Beach from 2pm SL will continue the celebrations!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day everyone.. pass the aspirin.

The Old Bull and Bush

The wartime pub in London City.

The pub has its own voice parcel, 24 hour 1940's radio stream, board games, drinks and leader board competitions.

Today we added a game of draughts (checkers) which uses proper rules, where you can take a whole series of your opponents pieces if you line them up correctly.

So keep an eye on the pub, its a bit of leisurely fun and its all come together quite nicely.

You can visit the Bull and Bush here:  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/London%20City/48/184/24
