Wrap up Warm

It must be spring, it's snowing!

They say this every year, but maybe this time they are right.   The UK is bracing for what promises to be the most snowfall seen in the country in over ten years.

Just about everywhere is going to receive a good 4 to 8 inches of snow over the next 24 hours, and 8 inches is indeed something to crow about!

There will never be a better excuse to get snowed-in and play Second Life until at least the middle of next week, so keep a beady eye on the forecasts, and make sure you have plenty of Armageddon-proof food in your cupboards.

So wrap up warm, get the kettle on and login to London City, where a cup of hot Bovril awaits you.

Fed up with the long bleak Winter?   The beauty of virtual environments is that you can make it any season you wish, and as is tradition in London City, the 1st of January heralds an early spring and the end of winter!

Spring!

It seemed quite a short winter, until it reached the end, when it would not let go.
As we still wrestle with the prospect of even more snow in the UK, the troops are on the horizon as spring finally reaches the Northern hemisphere.

Today is the first day of spring, where for the first time in 6 months there is as much light as there is dark, with the lighter days gradually increasing through the coming months.

In this country, during the winter, the daytime ends around 4pm when it suddenly becomes night time.   However living almost equidistant between the North Pole and the Equator has an upside too.  For it means that in the spring and summer, we enjoy a great deal more light than dark, and all the Brits come out of hibernation.

With the clocks going forward by one hour as we go to bed on Saturday night, there will be a feeling of all the promise of spring to come as we finally enjoy long days and short nights.

By the end of April, Sunrise will be at 5.30am and Sunset will be at 8.20pm and will keep increasing each day until the end of June.

So embrace the Spring, plant your potatoes and start decorating!

Spring Bank Holiday Weekend

Well it has been almost a fortnight since the long Easter weekend, and here in old Blighty, we like our days-off, so its another long weekend, to celebrate something or other.

All the pubs and clubs in London City have late licenses this weekend, so get down to Bar Soho, Madame Lala's, Substation and The Worlds End... all open for your delight throughout this holiday!

Spring is Sprung

This month, the funfair will roll into town ahead of the next Bank Holiday.  The first Barbie of the season, Dolly and Elton will be back in concert, and new talent will also take to the stage...

Celebrate all the promise of the Summer to come, with London City Springtime. Concerts are held each weekend in the Amphitheatre. There are also fairground rides and stalls with prizes to collect throughout the month of April. For details see mainlandlondon.blogspot.co.uk

It was the best fun since Christmas, arguably event better!  There was no need to buy presents or to visit long lost relatives usually only wheeled out for weddings and funerals.

But here in the UK, four days of rest and relaxation with the odd tipple here and there, has finally come to an end :(

Looking on the bright side, the clocks moved forward on Sunday morning and we gained another hour of daylight as we were propelled into Springtime. It seems amazing that in January we were adjusting to night time starting at just after 4pm, whereas today, dusk will be at 8.03pm

And for many people, this is just a 4 day working week, so not long to wait until the next weekend!

Looking forward, there is another Bank Holiday at the end of April and by then, dusk will be at 9.10pm and here London City SL, the first of the beach parties is just around the corner!

Not long until Spring

If you live in the UK or other parts of Europe, there is every chance that now we have all endured another Christmas, that you're probably getting a little fed up with winter and you are looking forward to a bit more daylight and some warmer days.

January is the usual drag, but as we are about to enter February, it means that Spring is only a month away.

Thankfully Spring has already sprung in London City, so you can immerse yourself  in bright surroundings which is especially handy when it is a little gloomy outside your RL window.

Meanwhile back in real life, it is still dark at around 4.30pm, but not for long!  A month from now Sunset will have crept back to 5.30pm and will steadily increase by a few minutes each day.

Early in March it increases to 6pm and in April 8pm!

So you see, it really isn't long to wait. Spring is just around the corner.

If you fancy kitting yourself out for the new season, many of the stores in London City are already getting their spring/summer wear out on sale.  Every year, just like real life, we need essential new items such as sunglasses, shorts and flip-flops.   Now is a good time to browse for new ideas!

A spring in your step

Enough of the bleak winter and the snow and the wind howling at your door.

Get some colour to those lily white legs in London City and shake off the misery of Winter.  Thank heavens for the immersive experience of Second Life.   Who needs a light bulb for Seasonal Affective Disorder when you can bask in the sunshine in London City.    Spring has sprung and in London Seaside...  here comes Summer...

Happy New Year!

Wishing everyone a wonderful New Year and we hope you enjoyed the party and concert last night.

We figure that everyone has had enough of the snow and ice.  It's tradition in London City for spring to get sprung on New Years day. 

So brush off the winter chills, take off that Santa beard, grab a brand new Spring outfit from one of the 120 fully stocked stores here in the estate and head over to the park and soak up some sunshine!
