Get ready for the greatest Season of them all...  Summer in the City with Disco Spectacular.  Starts this weekend.

This Saturday we have Donna Summer as a Pride / Disco season cross over!

Warm Enough?

Great Britain, where it is either 10 below freezing, or 100 Fahrenheit. 

GB is currently "enjoying" a heatwave with the mercury hovering around the 90+ mark.  This may not sound exceptional to many in warmer climates, but you need to remember that in the UK where it is "never hot" or it "never snows", not only do we not possess a single snow plough, but we are still waiting for Air Conditioning to be invented.

This little island of ours crammed with 68 million people is melting.  It was with some relief that we could all enjoy a dip in the Olympic sized swimming pool yesterday in London City.  We also broke out the fans to keep the visitors nice and cool, and what a fun time we all had, talking for hours, without hardly a moan about the weather (he lied).

Come chill your heels here whenever you wish.  Drink plenty (of water!) and bask in the sunshine.

Here comes Summer!

It's time to make sure that the fridge is well stocked with delicious ice-cold grog, as we get partying in the sunshine.  Get your shorts on and get a tan on those lily white legs!

It was a hot afternoon, the last day of June, and the sun was a demon...

 

The Bank Holiday is here!

Well here we are again, with another long Bank Holiday Weekend.   Just like real life, its going to be a scorcher in Second Life too.

The Olympic sized paddling pool will be back for you to strut your stuff in your new (and hopefully not recycled) bathing costumes.  The on-site bar serving cold pies and warm beer is available for your convenience and there are special events throughout the long weekend and of course the Saturday night concert!

To enjoy this virtual extravaganza you will need copious amounts of alcohol, and as ever, we've researched the best beer deals nationwide as a part of our public information service.

Deals this weekend include Carling at Asda, 36 cans for £21, Kronenbourg at Sainsbury's, 18 cans for £14, and at Tesco, an offer of Desperados Tequila Beer, just £20 for 24 bottles!

London Sizzles

Yet again, it is the hottest day of the year, with temperatures in London at 33.3c (92F).  However, this record is likely to be broken again on Friday!

The current heatwave gripping the UK shows no signs of abating, and there are temperatures as high as 35c (96F) expected by the end of the week.

It is expected that this will be the hottest Summer in Great Britain in a hundred years!

So you need to stay out of the RL sun and enjoy the safe and reliable SL sun enjoyed in London City.  What better way is there to remain safe, than logging in to your favourite social experience, where we can collectively complain about the heat?   Make use of the water based facilities to cool down your virtual persona!

Holiday Season

Wow, what fantastic weather we are having this year!   Wall to wall sunshine for weeks on end!

We're coming to the very height of the summer now, and just like many of you going on your holidays, so are many of our cast and crew.

During the next few weeks, we'll do our very best to bring you the events you have come to expect from us.  Invariably there will be some changes to the line-ups, as some members of our team set off on holidays.

Real life holidays are the highest priority in the universe, so you will forgive us for some changes (he says as he hurriedly packs his bags).

Also, because England has made it through to the World Cup Semi Final, there is no Worlds End this Wednesday, but you can listen live in London City and comment on the match with all your mates.

The Party People Brave The Heat

Playing to a packed house Steps, performed admirably in the sizzling heat of the City last night.

The party continues today with Bailey and Coffee DJing in the Substation from 11am SL time (7pm UK), then 2 hours later, its over to cool down on the beach in London City West with Katty and the Worlds End crew on location with the Cash for Questions Quiz, from 1pm SL time.

It's a Scorcher

It's costume weather!   Get your new togs on and hurry on over to London City and enjoy a BBQ and a paddle in the olympic sized pool (pictured).    There won't be any rain in real life for a good six weeks, so we'll provide some virtual storms to keep you cool!  Temperatures this week are 30c and climbing!

 It's important in this weather to drink as much grog as possible, so check out these terrific deals from lovely Lidl's and crack a bottle open right now!

Summer begins

Today is the solstice, marking the first day of Summer.

The dawn chorus was at 2am, and tonight it will stay light until 10.09pm, and if it's a clear sky, there won't really be a night time until about 11.30pm through to 2am.

Here Comes The Sun...

The great British Summer.   It's cloudy and miserable for months, and just when you think Summer is cancelled, it arrives with a vengeance. 

Brits will be baking this week as temperatures soar.  So check out the new summer fashions whilst you cool your heels in the pool.

The ice cream van will be along shortly.

Whatever you're doing, enjoy yourself and make hay while the sun shines.

Springtime in London City

It was the best fun since Christmas, arguably event better!  There was no need to buy presents or to visit long lost relatives usually only wheeled out for weddings and funerals.

But here in the UK, four days of rest and relaxation with the odd tipple here and there, has finally come to an end :(

Looking on the bright side, the clocks moved forward on Sunday morning and we gained another hour of daylight as we were propelled into Springtime. It seems amazing that in January we were adjusting to night time starting at just after 4pm, whereas today, dusk will be at 8.03pm

And for many people, this is just a 4 day working week, so not long to wait until the next weekend!

Looking forward, there is another Bank Holiday at the end of April and by then, dusk will be at 9.10pm and here London City SL, the first of the beach parties is just around the corner!

The great British Summer.   Cold sunny days, boiling hot rainy days.  You would never want to trade it for a stable climate would you?

In RL don't forget to pack along with your picnic, a brolly, raincoat and wellies, the Summer is finally here.

This year we have gone all tropical in Second Life and it is sand sea and surf all the way, so all you need is some beach wear and a margarita!

Summer in The City

Here in Old Blighty we're enjoying the first of the summer sun, with temperatures soaring to 76F today in London.

Usually the Weather in April is like this for about a week to ten days and then goes back to being a little less balmy until the Summer starts proper. 

So, whilst this may indeed be a 'False Summer', make the most of it and get down to the new pool side in London City North and enjoy the swim balls and floats.   There is even a bar for those of you who need a beer whilst relaxing!

The Weekend in Video Review

The weekend was an absolute scorcher here in real life London and this was reflected in world as everyone put on their beach outfits and cooled off at the London City beach party.
