You can still get the Windows 10 update absolutely free from Microsoft.
Go to the Download Windows 10 MS site, and under the heading
Create Windows 10 installation media
1. Click Download tool now and choose Run.
2. Then choose, Upgrade this PC now.
Follow the prompts and sit back whilst Windows 10 is installed. This can take several hours. As long as you elected to keep existing programs and data, all your settings and programs will be preserved.
This update route uses your existing digital Windows 7 licence and applies it to Windows 10, without any intervention from the user.

You are a star Torric. This worked fine, no difficult moments, no requests for codes or obscure passwords, all very simple so long as you allow a few hours for it to fully install
