The Queen's Funeral today in London City

Thank you to everyone who attended the Queen's Funeral today in London City.  It was lovely to be in the company of so many caring people. Let us all hope that this shared experience brings the community even closer together.

This weekend and public holiday in London City

Our regular events in London City remain changed during the period of National Mourning after the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

On Friday we invite you to a 'get-together' from 1pm SL time (9pm UK) at Madame Lala's with ballads provided by Bailey.   

On Saturday at our concert area, we invite you to an event of reflection, again featuring befitting ballads.

We will not be holding events on Sunday.  

Monday has been declared a public holiday in the UK for The Queen's funeral.  An audio stream will be simulcast in London City throughout the day from 1am SL time (9am UK).  

National Mourning ends on Tuesday 20th September.  London City will resume its events on Wednesday 21st at Worlds End.

Thank you to all our patrons for the kind thoughts that you have shared with us at this sorrowful time.  The book of condolence remains open in London City until Sunday.

Get together at The Worlds End

Katty and Coffee will be hosting a get-together at the Worlds End today at 11pm SL, with a selection of music in an event to bring the community together at this time of national mourning.

UK begins National Mourning

 

The UK is this mourning grieving the death of Queen Elizabeth II, for 12 days.

King Charles III will address the nation today and declare the day of the funeral to be a public holiday.

In London, 96 rounds of gun salutes - one for every year of the Queen's life - will be fired in tribute to the late monarch from 1pm in Hyde Park by The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery and at the Tower of London by the Honourable Artillery Company.  Churches will also toll their bells.

Books of remembrance will be available in town halls and also online on the official Royal site.

On Saturday, Parliament will sit for MP's to take the oath of allegiance to the new King.  Parliament's timetable will be greatly reduced dealing with only emergency matters until the end of the mourning period.

Union flags will go back to full mask as the proclamation of the new King is declared, then return to half mast.

Details of the Queen's funeral will be announced during the weekend.

Please note that London City has suspended its weekend events in a mark of respect for the Queen.  Everyone is welcome to share their stories of her life as we come together in our grief.

Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II

It is with profound sadness that the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, has been announced.

The Queen who celebrated her Platinum Jubilee earlier this year has been the British head of state for 70 years. 

The monarch, who lost her beloved consort Prince Philip last year,  is also the head of state for Antigua, Australia, The Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Grenada, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and others, including the United Kingdom.

We send our sympathy to her family and all her Subjects who are affected by this terribly unhappy news.

Here in London City, with a predominantly British team, we have decided that as a mark of respect, that this weekend's events should be cancelled so visitors can pay tribute to The Queen.
