Today is Sunday.  Don't bother getting dressed, you've deserved the rest after all that Christmas food and boozing.   Two events for you today,  Hubstation (Substation in the main hub) at 11am SL time (7pm UK) and The Worlds End broadcasting from an as yet, undisclosed location, but probably the hub at 1pm SL time.

Join us today as we celebrate the music of over 100 stars, as performed by Pan's People!

Pan's People was a British female dance troupe most commonly associated with the BBC chart show, Top of the Pops, until the mid-1970s.  They appeared on many other TV shows in the UK and elsewhere in Europe and performed in nightclub cabaret. Due to their weekly exposure on British television the group acquired a high profile. The 'classic' line-up which existed from 1972 to 1974 is still widely recognised today.

Like you, our support team with be eating, drinking, sleeping, watching tv and logging in to SL.  We have no set hours for Support during the holidays, so if you find yourself needing help, please use the Support portal above and we will be sure to answer you in a timely manner.

If you find yourself online on Christmas day, bring your dinner over to the hub area in London City where the dinner tables are set up and have a glass of wine and a meal with all your online friends

UK Christmas Lockdown

Yesterday, in an early evening announcement, the Prime Minister of England, together with the devolved governments of Scotland and Wales, announced that the rules for Christmas were changing, and coming into immediate effect.

A new mutated strain of the virus, which is far more adept at transmitting itself, is rapidly sweeping the UK.  The government believes it is no longer safe for us to socialise with people outside of our family unit.

For most of the UK, Christmas has been cancelled.  The introduction of a new 4th Tier (full lockdown), saw nearly all Tier 3 areas move directly into the new tier, which prevents all visiting, even on Christmas day.

This will be heartbreaking for those who live alone and will come as a shock for others, who had made plans to visit family over the holidays, particularly as the Prime Minister had assured us (only two days ago), that Christmas gatherings could still take place.

Although we can never come close to filling the void that a Christmas at home without loved ones will create, please remember you are not on your own this Christmas.  We really are, in this together.  

At London City in Second Life, we hope that you will join us and enjoy interacting with the community, enjoy parties, quizzes, games and one another's company and immerse yourselves in the virtual Christmas spirit.   We are open, we are active, and we look forward to seeing you.

We may be isolating, but we do not need to feel isolated.  Please join us whenever you can through the holidays, where we can lift each others spirits.

The Tree from Norway arrives

It truly is Christmas when the Tree from Norway is presented to London.   

Each year a tree is gifted by the City of Oslo as a token of Norwegian gratitude to the people of London for their assistance during the years 1941-1945

London City is celebrating a virtual Christmas this year, as they stay home and stay safe. Enjoy the parties and festive concerts, in the build-up to the holidays. Last night heralded the start of the new Season, with the first of our Christmas concerts.

It's now ho-ho-ho all the way, with Sir Cliff on his sleigh this time next week!

Home For Christmas in London City

If you rent a land parcel and pay 4 weeks before 1st December, to avoid any unnecessary concerns that your rent will expire during the holiday season, we will extend your rental to 7th January.

With just one payment of 4 weeks, you are Home for Christmas with London City.



If you regularly visit London City and enjoy the community atmosphere, you may like the convenience of being able to build or rez your own home within a stones-throw of the centre of all the action in Second Life.

London City offers land plots where you can build or rez your own buildings and set home.  If you are not a builder, there are literally thousands of suitable houses available to purchase and rez.

You might be concerned about uninvited guests, but this is no problem at all because all parcels are highly configurable and offer total privacy and security. If you decide to set your land to 'private', only you and your guests can enter your parcel.  If you configure 'see and chat' no one else can see you inside your parcel.  If you set voice to the parcel channel, no one outside your parcel can hear you!

Of course you might be a party person and like strangers dropping by.  You can set your parcel to public access and the world and his wife can visit.    If someone annoys you, add them to your ban list!  Everything is configurable.

Each parcel comes with an impressive level of configuration to control your media, access and privacy.

The 'About Land' setting allows each tenant to configure:
Media/Music stream  settings
Deed Objects such as tv and radio changers
Eject and Freeze Residents
Eject from Group
Control Allowed and Banned Residents list
Set Home to Here
Return deeded objects
Set privacy (see & chat with others)
Set land to public or private access.

Robbie was a hit

It was great to give the new AWS style region a rigorous test last night, with 100 avatars on the region.  

We're also aware that the cap of 110 avatars being able to visit was capped at 100 and we've passed news of this issue to the lab to take a look at.

Remembrance

Got it wrong

With some relief, I called the election for Trump and got it wrong!

Hopefully the new President will eventually end the unremitting hostilities that so many of our friends have endured.

Great Britain in Lockdown

We saw this coming a mile off, didn't we?   

The United Kingdom begins a full National Lockdown again at a minute after midnight on Thursday 5th November.

Here in London City we are determined to make the best of it and keep spirits high with some great entertainment, concerts, parties and events.  There is nothing we can do but wait it out again. Maybe instead of thinking we are stuck at home, we should consider that we are safe at home?

Chin-up everyone.  We've been through this before and emerged. We might as well treat it as a "virtual holiday"

So here it is, the most jaw-dropping election ever in American History as two dinosaurs fight to the death.

The 'Great Orange' against 'Tom Cruise's father in Top Gun, back from heaven'.

Who will win, Donald Trump or Joe Biden, and why do you want your candidate to win?

There will be heated debate, but this is your chance to air your feelings whilst we all await the results together.  Fierce debate is fine, but common decency is expected.

I hope you get to tell me how wrong I am for the next four years, but (and my feelings have nothing to do with it),  I am absolutely certain that Trump will win.

Martians gatecrash Halloween Party

We did it!   We fought off those pesky Martians again.  What is it about Halloween that always makes them try in on with us here in London City?

On Primrose hill, there were a few charred Residents, but on the whole we all made it through the night, thanks to copious amounts of whisky (used for medicinal purposes only <coughs>).
