Tina at Pride

Born Anna Mae Bollock and best known as Tina Tuna, her musical career got going in the 1940s.

Tina and loving husband Ike Turner had a string of notable hits, River Deep Mountain High, Nutbush City Limits and Proud Mary and enjoyed their success with cigarettes and whisky and wild wild  women.

However, behind the scenes Ike was knocking seven shades out of poor old Tina and they split up in 1976.  Five years later, after getting rid of her junkie husband, Tina hit super-stardom with Let's Stay Together, Private Dancer and What's Love Got To Do With It.  A legend came into being.

Pride begins this weekend in London City

As a tie-in to RL London Pride, London City begins LGBTQ+ Pride this coming weekend.

Pride is an inclusive set of events throughout June for everyone LGBTQ+Straight.  All we ask is for everyone to be tolerant of each other and respect diversity in all its different colours and shades of grey.

Pride starts in Lala's on Friday at 1pm SL and The Pride Party in The Park starts on Saturday at 12pm SL time.

Platinum Jubilee, Pride and the Long Bank Holiday

Whether you are a staunch monarchist or proud republican, there is no getting away from the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. 

From Thursday June 2 to Sunday June 5 the UK is enjoying a bumper four-day bank holiday weekend to mark Elizabeth II's historic 70 years on the throne.  The RL Platinum Jubilee Pageant and Concert at the Mall will take place on Sunday 5th June and is open to everyone. It will be live-streamed online across the world.

Here in London City we will be celebrating London Pride and the Queen's Platinum Jubilee from Wednesday evening (UK time, noon SL time), as the very long weekend gets off to a flying tart!

Congratulations if you were savvy enough to book 3 days annual leave from Monday to Wednesday, giving you a delightful nine day break!

Please drink responsibly at the Drink-a-thon, but make sure you have plenty of grog.  It is essential and her Majesty would approve of such shenanigans.

Madame Lala's club played host to our first Pride Party last night.  If you were still settling in from a hard week of grind at the office, fear not, we have a great party again today,  Saturday at 12pm SL (8pm UK) after the Worlds end, which begins at 11am SL.

Kicking off Pride 2021 is the legend herself, Tin O' Tuna and todays theme will be Pride Anthems.

We've never had the Bee Gees open our Pride season before, and they went down a storm with the Pride revelers!

LONDON CITY PRIDE - The Video

Thank you so much to everyone who participated in London City PRIDE 2017.

With this video, Pride 2017 comes to an end, but what a blast we have had the past five weeks from Margarita Practan in week 1, to Donna Summer and Judy Garland yesterday and Barry Manilow today, and all the other acts in between.

Special thanks to the fantastic team in London City who worked so hard to bring all these multiple events together throughout the month of June.

Saturday - Pride Day in London City

It is Pride day on Saturday in London City.  Get your Pride outfits on and head over for a great day out in Second Life's most popular destination.

At 9am SL time, Judy Garland takes to the stage with a flagon of  Gin to warble her most famous tunes, including Putting on The Ritz, Rockabye Your Babe, Swanee and Over The Rainbow.

At 11am its all over to Worlds End Pub for their Pride Party, with Katty and Coffee.

At 12pm SL time, its the Pride Party and at 1pm SL time, Headlining the event is the Queen of Disco, Donna Summer.

To translate these times into UK.. the party starts at 5pm UK.

Don't forget the Pride Parade on Sunday.  Get a wearable vehicle and tart it up by attaching some bits to yourself and sit in your motor.  Easy!

Pride continues with Erasure on Saturday

Jan loves a bit of Pride.

Back in 1985, singer/songwriter Andy Bell and songwriter Vince Clarke formed the band Erasure.

With the release of the single Sometimes the band established itself as one of the most successful bands in Britain during the 80s to mid-90s.  By the end of the 80s they had broken into the American market and to date have sold over 25 million albums.

Always popular with the LGBT club circuit, the band still performs today to a more mainstream audience.  They are best known for the songs, Oh L'amour, Victim of Love, Blue Savannah and A Little Respect .
