London City - Official Community Gateway

London City Gateway is being revamped and getting a make-over.

This is a brief potted history..

Over three years ago, London City became the first of the next generation Official Community Gateways to come on-line.

Since then over 600,000 new residents have begun their journey in Second Life, via the portal operated by London City.

The gateway has the emphasis on quick-starting a resident by showing them the basics of walking, running, camera controls and jumping.  These are the bare bone essentials needed to begin their adventure, and if they decide for a more in-depth tutorial, they can take a tour of the full region and follow the examples - or - they can choose to jump right into the community region London City and meet other residents.

From there, our Support team will show them how to customize their avatar, dance, shop, create landmarks and search for places and events of interest.

Love Made in SL

Earlier this month, the mini-series Love in SL, created for Linden Lab by Draxtor,  debuted to showcase some of the many stories of love and romance found by Residents in Second Life, that has ultimately lead to real life partnerships.

Episode 2 features Lily and Charles, a couple who met back in 2007.

London City also features very briefly in this episode.

London Weekend

Last night, concluding the Love-In, The Everly's performed in concert, reminding everyone just how good they were at their peak.

Today at 11am SL, it is Substation with CoffeeQueen, followed by Katty on the beach in London City West at 1pm SL for World's End (on the road).

Trash or Treasure

One man's trash is another man's treasure..

Kicking off Valentines season in London City last night, was Cat Stevens, spreading peace and love around the world.

We were joined throughout the event by Liru, lead developer for Singularity Viewer  she she was here to test the very latest build of this superfast viewer, shipping to all users during February.    More on that as the project nears completion.. 'cept to say it has a ton of brand new requested features users will love.
