It is officially the most romantic day of the year and cupid will be fanning the flames of love and rekindling some dying embers as he goes around shooting arrows all over the place.

There are those people who think that Valentine's Day is an expensive rip-off for those in a relationship, forced to pay three times the going rate for flowers or an evening out.  And others who think it exploits loneliness in those who want to be in a relationship but are not..  And then there are people out there who look forward to showering their beau with lots of presents and candy.

Regardless of how you feel about the day itself, there are lots of people online in Second Life which means lots of chances to strike up new friendships, and what better place to do it than London City?

Matt Monro's Love-In for Valentines

On Saturday, join us for a special show to celebrate Valetine's Day.

Matt Monro, sometimes known as the Singing Bus Driver, was a British male vocalist whose career spanned the late 1950s 60s and 70s.

In the 1960s Matt Monro hit international fame and left for America, spending the next 20 years performing concerts and in Las Vegas, before returning to the UK shortly before his death in 1985 at just 54.

The man with the warm and beautiful voice brought enormous pleasure to millions and had many celebrity fans including Frank Sinatra who said of Monro after his death: “If I had to choose three of the finest male vocalists in the singing business, Matt would be one of them. His pitch was right on the nose; his word enunciation letter perfect; his understanding of a song thorough.”

He sang the opening movie scores to The Italian Job (On Days Like These), From Russia With Love and Born Free and is best known for songs, Portrait of My Love, If I Never Sing Another Song, We're Gonna Change The World, The Impossible Dream and Walk Away (later recorded by Elvis).

Neil Sedaka on Saturday

As part of the Valentine's season, London City invites you to a romantic evening at the Love-In stage.

Neil Sedaka will be there singing his favourite love songs to get you feeling sultry and in the mood for lurve!

With a career spanning 155 years, Sedaka is one of America's most prolific singer songwriters, and has written over 500 songs for himself and other artists including Connie Francis for whom he wrote Stupid Cupid.

His most famous songs include, Stairway to Heaven, Calendar Girl, Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen, Solitaire, Breaking Up Is Hard To Do and Oh Carol.

Party in The Park begins at 12pm SL (8pm UK) with Sedaka in Concert at 1pm SL.

It is the Valentine's weekend!   An unfortunate time for those who are single and wish they were not and an expensive time for those who chose last week to have jolly good argument and have a partner expecting reparations.

Get into the Valentine's spirit..

Stick to the virtual world, is our advice.  Hunt out something from years ago in your inventory, check for the all important transfer permission and save the planet (and reduce some crap from your inventory) by recycling and giving it away as a gift of lurve!   Who's gonna know, except you and your conscience?

Last night Matt Monro played to a packed house and there wasn't a dry eye in the place.  We all had tears running down our legs.

What a lovely weekend it has been so far.  And with Substation and Worlds End parties about to begin in the next hour, its a long chalk from being over.
