From an acorn..
London City started out on the Mainland, seven years ago. Back then it was called "Mainland London".
For posterity, we still maintain a small parcel on our original home region 'Mephilo Tor'.

The Headless Horseman Rides Again
As Halloween approached London City, a chilling cry could be heard in the distance. Autumn leaves, swept up by the wind, swirled and curled around us as we stood chatting in the Regents Park HUB.
The air crackled and became thick with fog. In the distance we could make out a faint glow in the sky. As we watched, the glow became brighter and a shadowy figure descended from the clouds. Our hearts began to pound, the sounds of hooves grew louder and the smell of brimstone filled the air.
The flying figure drew ever closer and we could see the dark outline of a horse and rider. The rider with eyes of fire rode his horse ever closer, hooves aflame with the green glow of hell. The eerie sound of clacking on non existent pavement became deafening and the Headless Horseman came to a stop just above us.
We stood, frozen in silence, for what seemed like hours. Our eyes transfixed on the dark form of the Horseman. Then, with a voice that filled our hearts with terror, he shouted 'Prepare yourselves, the bells have tolled! Shelter your weak, your young and your old! Each of you shall pay the final sum! Cry for mercy; the reckoning has come!'
The Headless Horseman visits London City Regents Park through out the day durring the entire month of October. Join us and you may just experience his chilling arrival!

Your London Weekend Starts Here!
Hurrah for Friday, the start of the weekend. It's been a looong week. Unwind and have some fun with us in London City.
From 1pm Bar Soho has great music and a Best In Leather competition! Don't have any leather?

From 2pm Madame Lala's London Revue is open, playing some great sounds with a very special guest tonight, Ruby Babylon as DOLLY PARTON in Revue!
Saturday sees another Party In The Park with dance music from 1pm and ABBA on stage from 2pm.
Compton's Pub on Sunday has another magnificent line-up with our Open Mic performers singing you their best songs. Everyone is welcome to perform at Comptons and open tip hats means that you get paid for your performance.
Also, The Palladium Dance club is open throughout the weekend. Cute girls and guys dancing for your pleasure, 24 hours a day. A dance club where everyone can work. Open tip hats for all.

The Platinum Dance Club at The London Palladium
Introducing the latest attraction to London City, The Platinum Dance Club, where everyone has a job!
We are excited to be able to offer an employement opportunity for all residents.
Many new residents want to work as hosts in clubs and this is an excellent starting place if you want to work in Second Life in return for a wage.
Residents new and old can work as dancers in Club Platinum and take home 75% of all tips earnt, the rest goes to "the house" for upkeep. All you need to do to join as a dancer is click the "Start Now" board inside the club.
Platinum Dance Club is divided into two sections, one for male dancers and one for female dancers.
Dancers will chat with visitors and make them feel welcome in return for tips.
As with all jobs, some dancers will earn better than others depending on their personality, Avatar look and attitude. The more you engage the visitors, the more you are likely to earn. (Bots found to be camping the venues will be removed and visitors are encouraged to only tip dancers who are active).
London City is committed to helping residents find their first paying jobs in Second Life.
If dancing and hosting is not for you, how about being an Open Mic entertainer on a Sunday from 1pm PDT in Compton's Pub. Earn tips for music, comedy and other cabaret!

Weekend in Review - 20-21 August
The usual weekend madness fell across London City at the weekend. As always, we kicked off the weekend with a party at Bar Soho. DJ Ruby took to the turntables and treated the Best in Green crowd to some wild tunes before we all moved on to Madame Lala's London Revue to see us in to the wee small hours of Saturday morning.
On Saturday we had a real treat as Billy Joel and his band joined us a for a concert in the park.
Sunday was a new experience for everyone as there was a brand new DJ at Comptons pub - Bailey Saxmundham (oh wait...that's me!)
Next weekend is a long weekend in England and we have some special treats lined up...

The Circus Comes To Town
Visitors were treated to another super concert this weekend given by live performer Mapoo Little.
Mapoo had created a circus top, complete with elephants, giraffes, high wire and trapeze, especially for her Cher concert here in London City.
Singing like a pearl as usual, Mapoo involved the audience as more and more people flocked to London City when they heard the circus was in town.
With 83 people at the concert, more than twice the capacity of our old sim, this was an extra special night for all. Good company, superb music and spectacular show.
Mapoo returns to London City on Saturday 23rd July with an Amy Whinehouse concert. Don't miss it!
The Sunday sim race was one of our favourites to date. This time we decided to flood the sim and have a power boat race.
It was the start of a heatwave in real life London and with many of our visitors coming from england in RL, some water to paddle in was especially welcome.
Don't forget, its Amy MacDonald in concert next Saturday.

Concerts in London City This Weekend
This Friday after Bar Soho, head over to Madame Lala's London Revue for a late night evening of Cabaret. Madame Lala will be playing her famous Disco Remixes and the Barbettes will be inviting you to spend some time with tonights legendary performer, Neil Diamond, who will be on stage at 3pm PDT (11pm UK). Lala's doors open at 2pm. Bar Soho opens at 12pm for an evening of Dance music.
Our Main Event this weekend is on Saturday. Join us at 11am PDT (7pm UK) for Party In The Park hosted by Bar Soho. Performing the hits of Cher, we have LIVE singer Mapoo Little returning to London City. Mapoo is an extremely popular singer in Second Life and not to be missed. Her stage set includes some tremendous pyrotechnics, which add an amazing wow factor to an already incredible show.
With many other events throughout the weekend including Power Boat Racing, Cash For Questions and a Parachute jump, London City is the number one place to be.

We Got Water
Now, I know that a lot of sims have water and that on the surface it's nothing especially awe inspiring...
However, the Mainland London Community hasn't ever has real sim water to swim in.
With squeals of delight, we took to the water last night and sat and laughed and splashed around.
We have all fallen in love with our new estate land. We should have done this a long time ago!

Didn't He Do Well?
Long overdue and congratulations to SIR Brucie Forsyth, who dropped in on Regent's Park today to show off his gong.
From 12pm Noon Today (Saturday) The Big Party in the Park is the BEE GEE'S 73. Please arrive early to avoid disappointment as the old sim can only handle 40 avatars. From next week, we can accomodate up to 100 in the new London City Sim.... but that doesn't help you tonight... so arrive early :)
