Second Life Birthday

The Second Life Birthday festivities have begun as the Social Platform celebrates 19 years!

It is SL19B.  Any event about Second Life just would not be the same without a speech from Patch Linden about the vision, achievements, where SL has come from and where we should all be going with it.   Catch Patch's talk at 12pm SL at the SL19B Arboretum region.    

As always, there will be numerous opportunities to meet the celebrity employees, who run the world and make all the decisions, so hop over and see if you can get them to engage with you.

London City is exhibiting as we always do, on the region Astound  where the theme this year is Steampunk.

On the 23rd June 2003, Second Life opened its doors and rapidly became the biggest Virtual World (in the world!).  This is an accolade it has, to this very day.

Through the rest of June you are invited to celebrate 18 years of Second Life at Shop n Hop, an event with over 320 merchants, exhibits from the worlds finest builders, concerts, DJ's and a meet with the Linden employees of Second Life.

Seventeen years ago, on June 23rd, 2003, Second Life launched to the public.

Each year they hold Birthday celebrations where Residents are invited to exhibit their celebratory builds.  This years exhibits span 23 regions and open to the public on Friday at 9am SL time (5pm UK)

Happy Birthday Second Life!

Second Life 16th Birthday

Second Life turns 16 years young this coming Sunday.  To celebrate, the annual celebrations begin today with SL16B.

Twenty regions have been dedicated to this event, five of which contain exhibits from Second Life's finest creators.

We're proud to announce that London City has again be chosen as an exhibitor this year, and our offering, built by Billy Arentire, Elise Banx  (with some meddling by Torric Rodas), is entitled, "If  the Brits Got into Space First".

Celebrating 15 years of Second Life

On a summers day fifteen years ago, Second Life (formerly Linden World in 2001) opened its doors to the public for the first time.

Things were very different then.  Avatars were called Primatars and they were made from the building blocks that were also used in basic buildings of the day.

Next weekend in celebration of Seconds Life's Birthday, everyone on the grid is invited to partake in SL15B, a community celebration with exhibits from the most popular places in Second Life.

We hope you will come and visit London City at SL15B next Sunday when the event begins.

Happy Birthday to Second Life, the worlds largest user-created interactive 3D experience.

Second Life turns 14 years old this week (and we're still waiting for our shoes to rez.. yup same joke we tell every year).

Each year, the finest builders in Second Life are invited to exhibit content in parcels that stretch ten regions.   We are thrilled to announce that as with the past 4 years, London City is the official (and only) representation of London in Second Life at  the SL14B celebrations.

The event starts at midday SL time (8pm in the UK) on Sunday, and we hope you will come and see us making an exhibition of ourselves.   We'll post the location to the event later in the week.

London City is the official London of the Second Life 13th Birthday celebrations.  This is our seventh year at SLB.   Here are some of our previous exhibits:  SL13B opens 18th June.

Second Life Birthday "SL13B"

London City is delighted to have been invited to take part for the 7th consecutive year, at the event that celebrates Second Life being the worlds largest Virtual World experience.  This year Second Life is 13 years young.

Second Life Birthday "SLB" gives a flavour of the wealth of content available for all residents to enjoy throughout the grid, by showcasing exhibits in many parcels, over 17 regions.

London City is the official London at the Second Life Birthday celebrations.  This year, the lovely people at SLB have given London City one of just  a handful or large parcels to showcase the estate, Our building team are hard at work to make this the best experience yet.

SL13B opens to the public on Sunday 19th June.

The theme this year is Empires of the Future and we thought should celebrate all things British with the most iconic leader of modern times, Sir Winston Churchill.

THE EMPIRES OF THE FUTURE...

The opening of Second Life's largest community event is just one day away. It seems like only yesterday we were at the closing events of SL10B and now here we are a year later about to celebrate the opening of SL11B, Second Life's Eleventh Birthday.

 



 

This years event features the best and brightest that Second Life has to offer, and we are pleased that London City has been counted among them. The only London in Second Life asked to participate at the Official SL11B event, the London City Exhibit is based on a bright and prosperous future.

Of course, being the only London chosen to exhibit did present some pressures but we happily rose to the challenge. It was great to be able to build in confidence knowing that those who abused their Second Life Birthday parcel last year to grief us were excluded from participation this year.

The build began with a concept and quickly took on a life of it's own. Growing and changing to become what we feel exemplifies this years theme, "The Empires Of The Future Are The Empires Of The Mind".

 

As part of the SL11Big Hunt, we have not one but TWO free gifts for you. These items were created by London Brand exclusively for London City's Exhibit. But you'll have to wait until tomorrow when the regions officially open before you can get your hands on these one of a kind items.
